Hey Alex - I just realized that the instructions for tightening up the preload are wrong. The nut right up against the damper body is actually the jam nut for the preload which is the 2nd nut from the damper body.

You have to loosen the 1st big nut and then the preload will go into the body by tightening, or out of the body by loosining. Then tighten down the big nut to lock the preload down.

The 3rd nut away from the damper body is the jam nut for the length of the damper.
