I was trying to stay out of this thread, but this question needs to be answered from the source IMO. The actual purpose is to reduce drivtrain power loss by keeping the engine still and transferring all that power directly into the drivetrain. When the engine rocks in the stock mounts, that is torque loss. Not only do you lose useable power, you're adding stress onto the engine and transmission mounts. With the damper installed, you can dial in how much you want the engine to move, and as a result, how much of that power you want to get back headed to the wheels. What you get is increased throttle response, longer life on mounts, easier shifts since there is no rocking of the engine that would cause driveline shocks, and some added "bling" factor to your engine bay...who doesn't want a little bling every now and then?
