For a flagship vehicle its not big enough (think S-calss or 7 series), not powerul enough (V6 vs V8) and not unique enough (NO WAY should it ever even RESEMBLE an accord). It just doesnt stand out in the crowd of blah blah sedans these days and thats a problem for any manufacturer. Brand recognition is everything these days regrettably.

Having said that, it is a beautiful car. It rides awesome. Tons of techno gadgetry.
FYI, a flagship car is not always the biggest, fastest, or the most expensive offering by an auto manufacturer.

Point being the S -Class is the MB flagship sedan while it has been edged out in price by the CL.

The M45 replaced the Q45 as Infiniti's flagship while it is not the most expensive, or the biggest, thing sitting on the lot.
