Busy Break Pictures

I got myself a new flash, a lens hood and a new camera bag that fits all my goodies. I've been taking a lot of pictures over break. I figured I'd share what I was up to. If you're on facebook, theres a good chance you've seen some of these but here they are anyway:

First let me say how surprised I am at the flash. I really didn't expect the light to look as natural as its turned out. Bouncing light off the walls FTW!

I spent most of the weekend training with my flash for my friend's show. Being able to use my 18-55mm really opened up the possibilities for both normal shots and my signature close ups:

Perhaps one of my favorite shots and one of the only ones I used without a flash. 18mm at F/3.5 and 1/3" shutter:

I'm happy to say there is a LOT more variety this shoot than last shoot. I really had a lot of fun moving through the crowd getting as many different angles as I could(though I'm sure you can tell my favorite angle was right in between the kickers on the floor). Here is the full album if you're interested in paging through it: Kensphotography's photos and albums on webshots I thought a webshots would be a good idea to have because I can go to events, ask to take people's pictures, then tell them to go to this site to check them out. Webshots is the only place I know that allows 2400x1600 resolution for free.

The hood I was talking about is designed for my 70-300mm lens and its about 3" long. The hood available for my 18-55mm is about 1cm long and I can't imagine very helpful. My hood does however fit the 18-55mm lens so I get to do cool things like this:

Realizing I had some good series of burst shots in my archives, I decided to get myself a freeware GIF animator.

And my favorite...

I think OEM is the best look. I just don't happen to think any of the various arrangements of OEM got it exactly right all at once
