I have a 95 Legend SE in pristine condition. About 5-6 weeks ago my thermostat guage was bouncing around. I went to America's Finest (which my first mistake) and they replaced the therm. Well as you know, premium gas is cost prohibitive now, so the car stays parked a good bit, but I do take it out and about from time to time. Anyway the garage didn't put the lower hose back on propertly and some other belt wore a hole in it which caused the car to overhead (I was on the expressway). I had the car towed to a garage where the alt and battery were not putting out the amps they should. Had that repaired. Thermostat still bounced around and hit the H level, and before I could get it off the road, the radiator sprung a leak. Another $800 (not to mention a CV joint replacement). Didn't even get to work before the guage started doing the same thing. But this time luckily I was able to pull it off the road in time (remember this is my THIRD time stranded). Took it back to the garage where they claimed the water pump was bad (I had the timing belt change about a year ago, but the idiots didn't change out the pump which as you know is customary). This we a week or so ago. Everything was fine until this am. The guage started bumping around, when 3/4 way up but corrected itself (I have never had thermostat problems on the car in it's history). I think the termostate was stuck close because the heat didn't work for 45 mins or so. After that time, the heat began working and the guage didn't move.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I'm told there is no damage to the engine.
It's really upsetting since I've taken such good care of the car (both in appearance and maintenance). The leather seats don't have cracks even!
Thanks
John
