Shopping can be done anywhere, there's cheap outlets all across America- I don't think shopping should play a part in deciding where to spend a voucher for a destination vacation. I'd say CR is the way to go. Beaches, drinks, food, flowers, trees, fish... all sorts of exotic opportunities. What's the most exciting thing that can happen on a shopping trip in Hong Kong? Maybe they use "exotic" cash registers? Perhaps Jackie Chan will pop out of a display case and beat up some bad guys? Maybe a sneak peak at next gen electronics that will be all over the internet in 3 months anyway? Go for the beach!!

As far as I can tell from studying my wife's behavior re: shopping, the act of shopping (both window and transactional) has an intrinsic value for her that I will never understand

However, her explanation to whenever I almost get an aneurysm from looking at the shopping 'tab' is that it soothes her and provides the same level of satisfaction as tinkering on the cars provides me. I guess that's good enough since she pays 75% of her shopping bills with her own money. Anything for the house or common usage for both of us I'll pay for, even if sometimes they can be superfluous things.
