The DIY mentions using needle nose pliers, but I used and ratcheting offset screwdriver like Craftsman Offset Ratchet Screwdriver Set - Model 4116 at Sears.com. I purchased a ratcheting offset screwdriver similar to this Craftsman at Lowe's for under $5.

It was a little weird to get these off due to the postioning and would be easier with a 2nd person holding up the rails for you.
