The line pressure is ~1500 psi I believe.

The connection at the steering rack is easy. There is a metal cover that comes off then you need the correct size flare nut wrench. At the top the fitting to the pump is just a few small bolts and it has an o-ring seal. The two connections to the firewall sound nasty due to limited space. It wouldn't be too hard to unbolt and drop the rack and pinion down a bit to access the one that is supposed to be above the rack. You would have to disconnect the steering U joint from inside the car first.

I suspect you could get someone to make up a line for you more cheaply than buying a new one.
