my car started overheating the other day so i took it to the columbia exxon off of little patuxent in maryland.
it cost
$471 to replace the cooling fan relay, replace thermostat and gasket, and "fix electric" (i think there the wiring got screwed up from the car overheating) they told me that there is damage to the head gasket and i should spend another $3,000 to have it fixed by them
despite their work the thermostat was still going crazy it would be all the way at C, and then spike up to H, and then linger around a bit before falling to the middle. ive had to fill the radiator with water more than twice since their work so i took it back and asked them to check for a leak or anything
they tell me that they didnt miss anything, and its the damage to the head gasket they told me about before
i dont drive it hard at all, i keep it under 2, 3 at most rpm.
today it started to overheat again so i pulled into another gas station to check it out, i noticed water was leaking out from under the front of the car, and steam was coming out of
this

part of my car
i threw in a gallon of water, and let it cool off a bit.
can anyone relate or help me out other than this mechanic who i think is trying to run a quick one
