Dude, you sound like the newbie to me. Are you saying that the difference of 1 or 2 seconds in the 1/4 mile is not going to be noticeable between two cars? Alright, first off from experience racing against 11 and 12 second cars in my 13 second Mustang, it's not neck and neck, it's more like "I can barely see your tail lights", well that was against an 11-second Trans Am. At any rate, let me help you out with some math:

Let's go with a moderate 1.5 second difference. Say I am racing a lightly modded Z06 that turns in a respectable 12.3 @ 118mph. I run my car bone stock and pull a 13.8 @ 101mph. Going 101mph I am traveling 148 ft/sec as I cross the traps. Let’s say my car is about 15 feet long (it might be a little longer or shorter, I don’t really know). Alright, the guy running low 12’s crosses the traps and then a second and a half later I do, assuming I was traveling 100mph the whole time, which I wasn’t, I would be 222 feet away when he finishes, or about 15 car lengths. However, since I am probably only doing about 90mph, let’s use that lower number (as it would put me closer to the traps), 90mph = 132 ft/sec * 1.5 seconds = 198 feet / 15 feet = about 13 car lengths. Now alright, I admit the math is a little theoretical, and that is over an entire 1/4 mile, which not many street races go that long, here is my point --> you are retarded if you think the difference between a low 12-second car and a high 13-second car won’t be noticeable in a race.
