G1: Manual Shifter Boot Replacment

Hey guys,

This was a vanity purchase…bought a new shifter boot because a little bit of the chrome trim ring was chipped and was showing white plastic behind it. Part number 83413-SG0-A00ZA $25. Removal of old shifter boot is illustrated below…basically remove two screws from coin tray area. Lift center plate upward. Remove screws holding boot to center plate…makes it easier to remove knob which is removed by unscrewing it counter clockwise. There are two tabs that hold the knob to the boot…yes…the chrome ring is part of the boot. Installation is even easier because you don’t need to have the knob attached to the boot. Attach boot to center plate, install center plate, screw shift knob back on till tight, bring boot up and snap into knob. The leather on the new boot looks a little different…finer grain. I like it and am glad I finally fixed this nagging, though minor, problem…really…what’s the one thing you touch more than your steering wheel? Anybody need a blemished shift boot? Later.
