That part mounts on the bracket that holds the trans dip stick tube to the valve cover. There are 2 open holes on that bracket. It mounts on one of them.The blinking d4 light has nothing to do with your HG replacement and the breather tube. It's a bad speed sensor at the transmission. Replace it. search for "blinking d4" in this forum and you'll see a lot of postings on that.

After reading your electrical problem again, i'm not sure. You need to check that all of your electrical connections are solid.
