[quote=hondaman23] That seemed to help for a while, but did not improve the screen brightness.
I removed the original solder with a solder wick and then replaced the square whatcha-macallits with new solder and put everything back together. I sanded the post connectors with a little 2000 grit sandpaper and put grease back on every connector before sliding all the boards together.
Hey hondaman23 this sounds like my problem with my premium sound stock stereo unit. The screen is very dim. Which square whatcha-macallits are you talking about? Or on which circuit board? Or do think that by sandpapering the connectors the screen will light up again? I have taken apart the front face of the stereo to get to the screen display and I remember disconnecting a flat plastic wire, I wonder if cleaning those copper leads will improve the display. When it is real dark, at night, I can barely read the frequency display.
