did they ever do a 6spd swap? would it be worth it?

ive looked on autotrader and seems noone is selling any 528it all results were 540it

what would be the value of a 5spd 528it with lets say 100k+ and M package

1- no need to do a 6 speed swap. Most swaps are done on A/T cars, not to mention the swap is not for the faint at heart (on the 540i Performing Imports gave me a quote of ~$15k!!!)

2 - Expand your area of search. 540iT may be out there for those who want to get a Prius.

3 - I cannot tell you that. a) depends on your area; b) BMW owners are one that you cannot come around with KBB numbers. Dinan mods will make the KBB null and void. So, it really depends on the owner

for the price of the Halos [~400.00], you can save a few thousand dollars and get a pre-2001.

E39T's are so nice. We have an '01 528iT, I think it is, in the shop right now. Very nice looking car, very comfortable, and even the 528's have enough get up n' go to get you around town.

The 540's coming along very nicely though, Leon. It's come a long way since how it looked when you first got it (based on those pics). Keep it up, man.

Do not EVER buy a salvaged BMW (unless you're turning into strictly a track car). You will almost no doubt have too many problems to count.

It'd be a little more dificult than simple plug n' play to add angel eyes to headlights that didn't come with them. You'd have to splice them into your corner lights (or wire a seperate switch), and you'd have to glue them to the low and high beam lense. IMO, you'd be better off buying a set of OEM or aftermarket headlights for the car that do include the angel eyes, and the projectors. If nothing else, I'd want the HID projectors over the angel eyes.

Thanks Drew!

As for the Angel Eye/Projector setup - they are not exactly plug-n-play, but installation is about 30 minutes/per side. I can help with wiring. I guess I have done it all, so no problems. Just get the Hella (OEM) or Depo (aftermarket). In fact, I can help you with the M parts and Lights.

Drew - is that 528iT for sale? I agree, they are zippy. Thanks again for the love...

I have been considering a high-powered BMW wagon for a few years.

E39 528 production ended with the 2000 MY. 2001-2003 E39 wagons were available in the US as the 525iT and 540iT. You can get a manual 525iT.

You can supercharge the 528s to 310 hp/260 ft/lbs pretty easily. See Active Autowerke or VF. 525s make a little less power. With serious FI builds, the 2.8 liter engine can make 600 hp or more

Koala Motorsports used to offer a 6-speed swap on the E39 and E38 V8 models for $9000 parts and labor. I can't find it on their new website.

You may want to look at the E46 323i (MY 2000) and 325i (MY 2001-2005) tourings as well. A few hundred pounds lighter than the five, better handling, and more common with a manual.
