Legend fanatic's favorite Nissan

Hey, I've always liked Legends (wanted to buy one, in fact, a '93-95 LS coupe 6-speed ) so I figured I'd register here and stop by every once in awhile when I had some free time.

So, for the subject of this thread, my car:

'97 Maxima SE, 5 speed manual
Koni reds up front (more compression travel), yellows out back
Progress springs and rear sway bar
FSTB, 4-point lower tie bar/brace
Z32TT rear wheels all around (16x8.5J)
245/45ZR16 Hankook RS2s
Alignment with -2 degrees camber up front
Acura TL bi-xenon projector retrofit
Ghettofied $0 hot-air intake (hey, I like the ricer wail and am poor)
Super awesome bling-bling gold package
Dead spider in each outer tail

It'll be interesting to see how much interest this thread gets.

Thumbs up Very nice

Of course I would have rather seen you take the Legend 6speed coupe but this particular year SE Maxima is a good choice nonetheless.

Personally, I would clear out those bumper lights and amber sections on the tails, and custom fabricate an LCD in the wood console. Max out the Max.

To show you there is custom work that can be done, here are a couple pics of my buddy's 97' SE over a year ago before he traded it in for a newer Maxima:

Nice Max man, I love the TL projector retrofit.

digging the Projector Retro. Even though they weren't in the same league, the Max i've always seen as a Nemesis I love it, but it's always been my nemesis!

Those are some GREAT tires you got on there.

Thanks guys, glad to see you're a hospitable bunch.

Alperovich - yeah, I'll probably never get an automatic car, including DSG and SMG. H-pattern FTW!

Blingting - The Max is significantly lighter at 3000lbs flat, but the chassis is also made of noodes and the struts+rear beam suspension design leave a bit to be desired. The strut design is especially annoying, as the camber curve is horribly affected when the car is lowered past 1.2" or so--you'll gain positive camber upon compression. Not good.

I kind of like the Amber lights, most of my money will go into "go" mods. A hardwired aux input (already performed) and maybe an inconspicuous sub later will be all else that I need.

B+O -

...Yeah, the tires are pretty badass. But with my driving, I went through the fronts in about 4000 miles. When I first put 'em on I tailed a 160whp Del Sol SI with Koseis and Kumho MXs in the twisties (and that guy could DRIVE)--he couldn't shake my family sedan.

Unfortunately I'm not able to afford to buy new tires every 2 months, so I got some 245/50 Falken ZE-912s. It'll be interesting to ride on these, but in terms of grip it'll be a big step down.

Here are a few more pictures for those interested.

I love my legend, but I love Nissans as well.

My mom's car, which I may own in the near future seeing how I take better care of it than she does:

Fawoosh - Yeah, 350s are pretty dope. Just be sure to pay your respects to the original VQ30DE.

ALoneR - it's lowered about 2" already and if anything I'll actually be raising it to correct some suspension geometry issues. I'll be putting some 17x9 +35 RPF1s (16lbs) and some 255/40 T1Rs (23lbs) on it when I get the cash.

Oh yeah, I removed the spoiler entirely once to replace a gasket. I kind of liked it as the car looked different, but something just didn't look right about the car. The rear is too boxy at the end and rounded at the corners to look right without some help. I like the OEM spoiler; it's a nice subtle touch, plus the LED third brake light is actually pretty cool.

IMO Legends can pull off the spoilerless look very well, but 4th gen maxes are a different story.

Hey, thanks man. There's a slight downside to that (and my current chassis bracing) and that would be that I have about...

..2" of ground clearance.

The color is called Deep Evergreen. Frequently confused for black (I've actually had people ARGUE with me that my car is black). Every parking ticket, etc I've ever gotten has said black. Wonder if that could get me out of anything...

Here's a little video of me pushing it around a local mountain road. Pretty boring unless you enjoy listening to engines and turn it up. At 0:50, it doesn't look it but I'm doing about a buck ten.

Just get the Falken Azenis 615's. You want grip... they'll give it. They're only like 47 bucks a tire

The kook RS2s are in the same ballpark of grip, and also cheaper and available in 245/45/16. Seriously, if you can find me a place where I can get 225/50 RT615s for 47 bones a tire I'll get a set.
