nvr mind, they're in the 70-80 dollar range. Forgot that when I bought mine, I got them at cost. They may be in the same grip category, but the side walls... I can stand on the tire, and there's no give. Plus, they're mad tyte jdm yO

They're still cheaper than my Toyo Proxes for my 19's! 160 each.

Yeah but unfortunately for me, they're over 3lbs heavier than the T1-R in 255/40ZR17. I'll have plenty of time to figure out what to get with the RPF1s, but it has to be a light tire.

Shame too, I hate to sound like a total ricer but they look BOMB.

on paper the max is slightly faster but it's always a toss up between drivers. i've been able to completely embarrass modified maximas. BUT ONLY at the far end. they're tough on the bottom end.

I don't willy nilly race them because it's very easy to lose BADLY to a max Maximum ass whooping if you will. They're kinda squirmy in the twisties without good suspension mods, so even with a 300-400lbs handicap, the Legend is slightly better through the corners stock suspension for stock suspension, but their steering is really responsive, and as you can see, they can fit stupidly wide tires (by honda standards) under them. i dream of being able to sit on 245s with no problems, and drive the car hard.

The upside to the tire width caveat is that Honda's suspension design makes the best use of the tire at every angle of its suspension travel. That's why they can stick well with such skinny tires.

B+O-

Yup, if you catch a stock 4th gen on the highway you'll take 'em.. restrictive y-pipe and IM design optimized for low-end and midrange. But watch out for us from a dig.

The 2000-2001s (5.0 gen, VQ30DEK) had a variable intake manifold that can be retrofitted onto the 4th gen with a bit of intuition, adding plenty of area under the curve, especially at the top-end--60whp is added at 6500rpm.

If you come across a 2002-2003 (5.5 gen, VQ35) 6 speed and are without SIGNIFICANT mods, prepare to bite the dust. Those things will HAUL and hit high 13s with boltons.

In terms of handling, my 4th gen with stock suspension and wheels was SIGNIFICANTLY funner in the mountains than my mom's old G1 legend. Give it a smooth track and the beam isn't hindering at all. However, get into some bumpy stuff and the car is less capable, especially the chassis, which is made of pad thai. I've added a nice little "LTB2" and FSTB to stiffen up the front of the chassis, but the rest is still sloppy as all hell. Next paycheck I get will be going into subframe connectors and full cross-bracing.

If anyone is SoCal or the SB area with a 5 or 6-speed is up for a run or a meet-up, I'd be happy to join up and do a little friendly comparison. Currently my wrist, knee and ankle are pretty fucked up from a motorcycle accident, but we can work something out. Always wanted to drive a 2G, and of course would return the favor.

Hey, I just have a lot of shit laying around.

Some are occupying wheels that I either can't sell or don't want to sell, some are waiting to go on my car, and one is waiting for me to figure out wtf I'm going to do with it.

Oh yeah... we don't really have 1/4 mile tracks around here, and my brakes/wallet are NOT sorted out for a trackday. I will be entering one as soon as I can afford it though (fingers crossed).

Thanks for the comments guys.

Oh definitely dude. Unless i had some sort of serious power adder, i'm not sure i would even consider racing a manual transmission 5th generation maxima Anywhere (def. not on the street! Street Racing FTL people!). Kinda funny when the newbody altima came out with the 3.5 and 5spd i saw many tests of the Altima at 5.8 and 5.9 seconds to 60. Never really disrespected the Newer Maxes after i learned that.

there's a reason i said it's my nemesis...That's the only other Japanese 4door that i'll give the same respect i give the Legend....

again, sweet car man. and i caught your rev match downshifts...nice.

Hehe. Unfortunately you CANNOT find a type-II 6 speed around anywhere... or it'd be a toss-up between the two. How's the 6speed tranny? My 5-speed shifter is like a ski pole.
