Talking Porsche 911 Turbo

One of my buddy's uncle's has a Porsche Turbo that he frequently lends to my buddy. I told him next time he got his hands on it to swing by and pick me up. 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and 0-100 in 7.9(thats how fast[slow] our cars go from 0-60!) and I can vouch for both of those numbers. I can not however adequately explain how it feels to accelerate at these speeds. Theres probably more than a G of force pushing you back into your seat. Any way you slice it, I'm glad I can't afford one of these because I'd find myself in jail or dead. Enough ranting and raving though, the pictures:

I've had my eye on this bridge for a while to take pictures on but its rather heavily trafficked and not a place you could park to take photos. Even with my buddy stopping while I shoot, we barely sat there 60 seconds. I don't like being rushed taking photos and I really wish I had more time. I did alright though:

The in car phone is not dead! Much to my surprise, bluetooth has not killed the car phone. I thought this was a ingenious modern touch to seamlessly integrate into your dash:

For when you've got to be precise in bragging to your buddy's about just how fast you can make it places:

It bothers me we couldn't have set up in a better location for these last shots(where other peoples crappy cars are parked in the background) but we just didn't have the time.

It strikes me now that he doesn't have a front license plate on the car which is certainly illegal in new jersey. I suppose he has the money to pay fix it tickets like he has the money to afford insurance that doesn't mind him tossing the keys to a 17 year old kid.

In a way, I'm saddened. Not being a speed freak, this might be the quickest car I ever ride in. I again apologize; the car could have been cleaner, my photos could have been better staged and framed, we just didn't have the time.

I think OEM is the best look. I just don't happen to think any of the various arrangements of OEM got it exactly right all at once

Damn. I had to open my big mouth about the cars in the background didn't I. Well, I think that fourth from last photo would be PERFECT if not for that fugly jeep in the background.

I love porches. Need For Speed Porsches Unleashed is one of my all time favorite games and I have a real soft spot for the 911 styling. I haven't followed porsches since that game since its such an impractical car to actually drive but I must say, they've really got the styling down. When the 996 series came out and the headlights changed slightly, my heart was broken. But somewhere in this series, it seems they brought back the regular round headlights and really beefed up the looks. Lookin in the side view mirrors and seeing those intake scoops behind the doors is BA! Driving my legend I've developed unrealistic expectations of the amount of real wood that should be placed all through a car and its a real shame Porsche interior is so "form follows function". A 993 (94-98) Porsche 911 Carrera or Turbo was a dream car of mine for a while but following up now on that dream, the interior looks like a '85 civic with leather. Oh well. Its for the best, as I said, only jail or death could come to me.

Now that's my kind of car! Glad to see there is another Porsche fan on this site. That car is beautiful! I agree, I was not a huge fan of what they did to the headlights on the 996, especially the later ones. Glad to see the oval headlights are back like the old 2.0 911.

Great pics!!

Well I'm sorry there wasn't a light show when we mashed on the brakes, but I can assure you, we were decelerating faster than I ever have in a car.

I'm sure it does, we were having a discussion about how difficult it was to control a car with so much weight in the back and he told me, thats why he was only flooring it in a straight lines. That car really just needs a track.
