San Diego Acurazine/NSXPrime Palomar run
Not my pics since I didn't bring my camera but I still wanted to share some shots from this weekend's NSXprime/Acurazine Palomar Run (San Diego/Orange County). Our route was legendary Palomar Mountain, from east San Diego up to the Observatory:
![]() ![]() Last month's run was good, but this weekend's run had a better showing. And better photographers. So about six or seven of these things came out. The OC guys kept us waiting for over an hour -_- One of these came out too; some big wheels, an A-spec front, and a few inches dropped. Mike, the owner, said the car did great on the uphill sections but not so much on the downhills. Besides being about 4000lbs and front-heavy, SH-AWD apparently works only when accelerating so downhills are probably pretty shitty. San Diego Acurazine guys heading up from Ramona, CA. The CL-S ahead of me was king of chucking pebbles back at my car. Then again I probably did the same for the NSX behind me Overpriced Honda meeting. Attendance included one supercharged CL Type-S coupe, one Legend sedan, an RL sedan, a Porsche Boxster, and at one point eight NSXs. I believe every car in attendance had a manual transmission, minus the RL of course. Hmmm those wheels looks familiar...

Cool pics, clean Acuras. Bet the RL was even better in person, too bad its weight distribution wasn't better though. How many miles were covered on that drive?

ah; I don't recall honestly hahaha ~ I was at half tank to start then had to fill up from near-empty by the end. Probably around 175 - 200 miles?
Downhills were pretty crappy for the entire crew I think. The CL-S smelled like clutch and cooked brakes, the RL just lumbered down the hill, and my tires ate several weeks of wear in just one go. The NSX guys seemed happier on the uphills than the downhills too. Palomar has a really good rhythm to it though and the road quality is great; solid run for everyone =)

def looks like a fun drive....but umm, I would stay to the back so I can get better pics. yea...better pics
my car would be all over the place if I was pushing it. I still havent touched my suspension 'cept for the MLS bar up front...I do have new axles though, lol. I like my roads straight and flat! did you guys stop up at the Observatory or did you just head straight back?

Usually we stop at the Palomar Observatory because it has a nice big lot of taking pictures. The Observatory itself is pretty interesting to visit (it's the facility that started the whole Pluto-is-no-longer-a-planet debate) and the twisty roads (S6 and S7) were built to move equipment for the Observatory's construction. Now it's just a weekend fun-run
![]() I dug up an old video of a Palomar downhill run I filmed last year. The video is completely raw and unedited so I recommend you mute it as soon as it loads up or all you get is wind noise. I had decided to drive up the mountain on a busy weekend just for shits and giggles ~ my sister is holding our Sony snapshot camera out the moonroof so it's neither excellent quality nor super-steady. Finally, note the video was taken in late September last year; just days before the 2007 SoCal Wildfires ripped through the area and torched all the trees.
