I made a thread about it a long time ago.
All you really gotta do to rev to 7k is get a chip. If you want 8k.. you might want to rebuild your heads with some performance parts... only problem, there aren't any for the Legend

yeah but at that high rpm you need to change at least ur cams in order to produce power at that rpm

Ok, currently, no, the legend has a fuel cut at 7 ish. So no, it wont rev there unless you have a chip. If you have a chip, unless your powerband is way up high (ie, short runnered intake manifold(not ~19 inch like a stock type II, or 23 ish like a stock type I) you need more like a 10 inch) and it would be nice to have it matched with a set of headers with fairly long but not huge primaries and cams with enough lift and duration.
Yes, you could rev a legend engine to 8500 or better, but you need to speak with buzzard about the valvetrain. There is some conversion needed to get it up that high consistently and reliably. The bottom end will be fine, as it is a fairly high bore:stroke ratio. And a legend tq. band tends to fall on its face around 4500, so unless you use a custom manifold and possibly headers (or manage to boost the hell out of it) to shift that powerband, good luck. |

I can chip the ecu to go as high as you want, at least as long as its manual so you can acturally shift when you want. Stiffer springs would be needed to safely keep the valves from floating much higher than the stock revlimiter. Cams would be the first thing to getting it to actually make power any higher. Somebody was working on a cam gear, on a sohc that could be used to shift the power band up a little bit with the stock cams at the sacrifice of low end torque. If you just wanted to rev a little higher and maybe gain a little HP up top that might work.

theres no point in reving that high if you're not producing power up there

a typeII with a stage II chip will rev out to 7800 (manual) you can tell you don't make power past 7.

Im making above 200WHP past 7k with the cams. My rev limit kicks in soon thereafter. I bet it would push right through 7,500k still at 200WHP.
Wonder if Beav can cut the rev limit out of my bayou chip. ~Dv8

Dv8--
I recall your dyno sheet vividly, and remember thinking that you should able to run faster quarters with a higher rev. By the way, I have been showing off your videos to all of my friends ![]() Fucking sick to say the least, man... k.
