READ this if you have Bayou stage II chip or want one

Below are emails I received from a rep. for the Bayou stage II chips for our Legends. He promises a 21hp increase at flywheel which DOESN'T include the Hp increases from other mods.

He says that people have dynos to prove this. I asked for the names of those people and he hasn't answered me yet.

I don't believe him really but just wanted to see what other people that already have the chip feel about this. Out.

Hi Cory,

The 21 hp increase excludes the increase associated with your mods. You
can check with the manufacturers of your modifications to see the
expected hp increase associated with each of your modifications. There
are Legend owners with your type of modifications who have purchase and
dyno'd our Stage 2 chip. I can provide you with some customer contacts if
your interested.

Thanks,

no problemo, aizn glad it worked for ya. i have a JDM GS type 2 auto ecu if anyone wants to make an offer, or ill just put it up on ebay.

The bayou chipas are real good chips, a my type one chiped ecu got 7 and 7 to the wheels.

21 hp to the fly is about 16-17 to the wheels, im a little skeptical about that one.

aiznpride...

part theory part truth?

I know you (ultimately) got screwed... however, I do believe PPP was doing hot swaps (checking the chip - not the ecu) AND it is highly likely that the ecu you received was 1 not the ecu you sent in and 2 was sent to PPP bad.

Meaning, the ECU you received could have been a forum member, and also could have been a web-contact. Someone may have put their meat hooks on the CCA prongs and then BAM its bad.

I would hate to believe that PPP screwed you and another forum member based upon the fact that when the GB went out... we had alot of I'm in - I'm down - I'm good which when presented to PPP at some 40+ (30+ or 20+ to avoid the exact number conflict) he dropped the price. Now... only 10 and some change people who were all anxious and excited actually participated which did leave Willie holding his nuts and was not a good mark on behalf of this community.

The GB and the special pricing was all FUBAR.

I don't stand up for Willie, nor do I believe that you did not get screwed. That is unfortunate and it put a damper on those of us who did get the chip and noticed the gains and were all happy.

I've said it before - you match a 6 speed component for component with like mileage except for the fact that I have the chip and I will take someone to their first day on campus.

I stamped my ECU w/ a precision jeweler round tip which has my last name and the last 4 of my social on it - told Willie I wanted my exact ECU back (which I would have went through the roof if that didn't happen) and thats what I got. I strapped my wrist when I handled my ecu and shipped in a static proof bag because I was (at one time) in that kind of environment.

I can feel your pain... cause I know what it is like getting focked out of some serious fatbacks. Like those son of a bi~atches at "eclutchmasters" - those crap eaters took my $450 and sent me a kit which the hub did not fit the application and then accused me of improper installation. So they are in my opinion "fhuckmasters" and did good for themselves by getting one over on me.

We can only provide real instances based upon actual and factual instances and you have a valid point - ultimately you were phuct but not just by Willie - someone else sent in a bad ecu and for $225.00 not only did they get a good ecu - but one that was chip'd.

also... let me add that Willie (aka PPP) does not butter his bread by screwing people (that he knows) belong to the forum. It would be counterproductive for everyone involved.

the ecu i sent was and got back was mine. i did the same thing you did with the engraving pen. the chip itself isn't bad imo. it's the workmanship of the installer (willie). you run a crap shoot cause he might screw up the ecu while installing the chip. then, when you go back to him, all he says is, "we dont warrantee ecu's, just the chip". what good is a working chip without and ecu? anyways, everyone is entitled to do what they want with they're money. if some asked me if they should get it, all i'll say is if youcan risk u'r ecu coming back dead, go right ahead.
it would've been nice if i got back a workin ecu.

Jae is not the only one .. I got screwed over as well. The ECU that I sent to him was the same one that I received, I took pictures and make different marks on the actual box.

Willie doesn't do the installs of the chip, he sends it out to a technician that does it, and he is the one that screwed everything up. Sure, the stupid chip works fine, but the installer messed up the actual ECU doing it. He would never give me the contact information of the technician that worked on my ECU, ohwell. We all learn lessons ...

dmenn, of course you know that the ECU CCA can be removed from the silver box entirely - so marking the box is really transparent.

I do want everyone that reads this to understand that - I feel both your pain - not with the PPP but with another vendor with a special Legend specific mod (to the tune of $450.00).

Now... from my understanding of your post as well as aiznpride's - you both have good bayou chips but bad ecu s - now... if the installer of the hot swap board f'd up the installation - then you are right aiznpride - sending off your fatbacks and your ecu is one huge crappe shoot - but again - is counterproductive to PPP being able to pay off the pimp.

It is also possible (if you will entertain my theory) that someone could have profited from the GB by sending in a bad ecu.

everyone sent their ecu's directly to PPP.
i'm just saying willie is a bad business man and should not be in business. that's all. it's my opinion and nothing will change that. no offense to anyone.

Exactly what he said!!

KNLGNUS: I made other small markings on the actual board as well besides the box, so I knew what I sent to him was the same as returned to me. That's not the point though, the point is how Willie Johnson @ PPP does business, which I feel is not ethical and definately not professional. That is just my .02 cents.
