Brakes!! I need brakes bad!! Slotted or dimpled!!

I need brakes now. Mine are shot. I wanted the AEM big brake kit, but the one guy (E K) that installed them never posted his driving impression. So, I want quality rotors and pads. I prefer cad plated slotted rotors, I do not like drilled rotors...but if anyone could recommend rotors to me based on good experience, please let me know.....I will use drilled if others say it is OK, i.e. good stopping power, no cracking. I want plated rotors also! Please help, I want to fix my car soon!!! (oh yeah, recommend pads also!)

I highly suggest you do NOT get the metallic pbr/axxis metal masters. They feel lousy and make's noise. I think that is just a characteristic of mettalic pads.

I'm just wondering.. i need rotors and pads as well. .what are the pros and cons of AEM and OEM rotors.. the pros and cons of the cross drilled and slotted as opposed to regular rotors.. i hear that those rotors wear out the brake pads quickly and tough to machine .. please advise, i'm just doing research right now and looking to get the brake work done in the near future.. Also can you advise me on the cost benefit as well. .i got a price on oem rotors in CDN$ it would cost me $107.7 each front rotor and $122.33 each rear.. and the pads would cost $69 front and $72 rear..thanks

My rotors are from raceconcepts. I've got the dimpled/slotted with PBR MM pads. I have to report that I have no noise (other than the whizzing that G Rahn is talking about) and very little brake dust. True some mornings it does take a few stops to warm them up, but then again, if your engine is cold, why go crazy with high speeds? Your brakes will warm up as quick or faster than your engine will.

Thanks guys for the great insight.. i was also wondering i'm from Toronto, and we do get snow up here, it hasn't been too harsh these past couple of winters, but do you guys know if there will be a major change in the performance of these rotors in the cold..

Thanks again..

Hey Lorenzo,
I'm in TO also and looking to get new rotors and pads. I got a qoute from irotors.com as follows (from email correspondence) as they are clearing out their inventory of legend rotors...

"
1991-1995 Legend Non GS/LS
$220 front/rear shipped
$115 fronts shipped
$110 rears shipped

1993-1995 Legend GS/LS
$230 fronts/rears shipped
$125 fronts shipped
$110 rears shipped

1986-1990 Legend
$210 fronts/rear shipped
$115 fronts shipped
$110 rears shipped

shipping to Canada is an additional $15 shipping.

We do have great deals on performance pads. For Lengend Forum members we offer them for an additional $75 for all four. These are Axxis Metal Master Semi-Metallic Pads.

There is no additional shipping cost with rotor purchase.

Based on my previous customer's experience, the rotors and pads should last somewhere between 30 and 35k miles.

If you would like to place an order, please call 714.743.0218 anytime after 9:30 PST tomorrow. Please have either a MC or Visa ready."
