I remember seeing a similar list a while back but searches can't seem to recall it =/ so! I've decided to compile another list but this time, one that will be more of a resource to the 2nd-gen Legend community. Please post the names of forum members that you know have completed their 3.2-to-3.5 engine swaps.
Additionally, I'd like to add quick, simple notes to each list entry: every swap has undoubtedly run into its share of troubles, obstacles, and previously undocumented trip-ups. Many of us who has completed this swap have either treaded new ground or have come up with ingenious solutions and have come across handy resources that may prove useful to future engine swappers. A quick blurb on each swap experience and how that member/experience could help future enthusiasts would be a great help. Completed swaps: AckRite Blackac92 C32A5 (looking for new engine) D-money DV8 FallenAngel FF Drifter Go90go (UA3 Inspire/3.2TL) jkurl Mike Diaz Overdrive sr5guy swift Telion Need more info/confirmation: Guy from Harlem Legends? the child? ATLFOKUS? Key words: C32A1, C35A1, 3.5 swap list

I'll start with those who had an immediate effect on my own 3.5 swap:
DV8 ~ the very first 3.5 swap and the original trailblazer Mike Diaz ~ his detailed 3.5 DIY swap was a great resource Telion ~ great pictures in his own swap thread helped me avoid potential difficulties in my own swap (and persuaded me to take the car to a shop instead hahaha) jkurl ~ got my Legend/RL passenger side engine bracket crafted (his jig is for 93-95 Legends) And of course, my own swap: FF Drifter ~ probably one of the more conservative swaps, we put a lot of emphasis on subtlety and most of all: passing strict California smog laws

I usually dont post in the more mechanical threads because I am not there with that - but I gotta say, kudos to you guys who are "street engineers". I have some mechanical ability, but you guys are the truth and I always read them and what not. I have a question, though
How much of a difference is there in performance with the 3.5 over the 3.2. Is there much difference because the 3.5, although stronger, doesnt gain much because the charriot it powers is bigger and therefore torque is lost? I mean, does it make a difference in the top speed and quickness of the G2 and is the swapping more for bragging rights then performance (may 70% brag/30% performance, for example). Just a note, I thought a guy from Harlem Legends did a swap as well.

2002 3.5 w/ TII cams!

Ahhem...ahh i did the swap too folks. Did it all by myself just like the main man Telli. Mike, Cristian and telions threads were great to help me through it. However...Some may dispute this next statement but SWIFT (Ben) gave me tons of help over the phone and email. I Couldnt have pulled it off without him.
Runnin typeII cams in the RL Heads and found out that the Type II Valve Springs will not work in the RL Heads. You end up snapping cam holder bolts @ half the torque specs. I didnt get a chance to take many pictures because i was under a great time and money constraint. Also i was commuting 2 1/2 hours to work on it.

Thanks guys. Hopefully more of the swappers will comment on their work. I am hoping to get those who actually did the swaps to post in the thread but I'll update it as best (and as accurately) as I can. Help me out with these names (links to their threads too please!).
As for your question QBoroLegend: Quote:
I dunno about other swappers but I don't think there is much bragging rights with the engine. It's cool to have but it's not something you can exactly show off to others because compared to other swaps in other cars, it's just not very extreme (it is, after all, almost a straight drop-in). There is a minor bump in performance but I personally felt the swap was mostly for reliability and it sets up a good foundation for future modification if I choose to go further.

I was curious about the forum member's name that completed the swap. Or was that you? If so, could you please tell us more about your swap (what made yours different, what shortcuts/tips do you have for others, etc.)?

Andy (atlfokus) did the 3.5 swap...?
I don't think that's right, I'm prettysure you got him mixed up with AckRite. Also, one of my friends that is obsessed with G35's sent me a video on youtube of a G35 coupe vs. a 2.5 TL that apparently has a 3.5RL swap. Someone should contact him and see. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUUi8_Zp-gs It seems as if the owner's name on youtube is G090go. |

Thank you, I'll look that up. I'll also swap the AckRite/ATLFOKUS. Sorry about that. (need more confirmation -_- not just secondhand info)

Whats the stock Hp on the 3.5, also about how many hours would it take if you include all the possible errors that can happen?
