Alright... Race Concepts are now selling Dimpled drilled Rotors and stating that they are better than the Drilled rotors because the drilled rotors that go all the way through are prone to crack? Now most member on this board have the Drilled rotors all they way through and not the dimpled... I personally like the Old ones and not the dimpled because thy look better IMO.. But if thy crack I won't get them...
Anyone like to share their ideas.. ![]() |

Re: Dimpled Drilled / Slotted Rotors VS. X Drilled / Slotted Rotors
Quote:
dimpled/slotted rotors. Check out the groupbuycenter.com as that's where his pricing is. Supposedly scientifically they are just the same as cross-drilled/slotted rotors, except the holes do not drill all the way to the other side. They are dimpled (kind of like drilled, except not all the way through) as far down as the minimum allowed spec of the rotor. I haven't bought a set from him, but these are just as effective as the cross- drilled applications. I must admit, I was a pro-advocate of the cross-drilled/slotted rotors, since based on my personal experience of 8 months, mine have not cracked yet. But, other less fortunate people have had problems. The x-drilling isn't done by Brembo or Race Concepts, it is outsourced to another vendor, so depending on the build quality of that vendor, it will be positive or negative. Prior to doing the dimpled/slotted rotors that Race Concepts now offers, Mr. Wood (I believe) would buy the OEM (or slotted) rotors from Brembo, send them out to a 3rd-Party vendor to get x-drilled and cadnium plated and then resell them as Brembo/Brady made x-drilled/slotted rotors. At the time I bought mine, he was interested in getting his own machine to do his own work. I heard recently that he has his own machine and now does the dimpled versions. For me personally, I haven't had any complaints other than when it's cold, it doesn't stop as good as the OEM, but when I had the OEM Rotors, it warped in 2 months, and now with the same and even harder braking with these X-Drilled/Slotted Rotors, mine have not warped yet (and it's been close to 8 months now).
