Lightbulb More LSD Info

My name is Wesley Nicholson.

The name of the company is OPM Autosports that the diffs are sold from. All of them that come from there are from my bud.

This is a true clutch plate type. Your original gears are ground to accept a plate of special material that creates the limited slip part. Yes your internal are reused, but that does not make them like the Phantom Grip. The units that I am working with have wear plates and all that jazz to make up "new" internals. The preloaded plates between the planatary and spider gears can be taylored to your needs and that is what I like the most.

You know you guys crawl me for advertising, but all I wanted to get you guys to realize was that Phantom Grip sucks, and Quaife has to be the most heavy and abrupt LSDs that neither one is really great to use. I have installed a Quaife in a 88 CRX and it has done OK, but after seeing what that type of LSD was about, I was glad to have my own clutch type that is much better.

I will not continue with this thread because you guys don't seem to want to hear it, and that is OK. Mabey I should have left with my two cents.

If you guys would like to know more, call me on my cell. I live in North Carolina and I currently own a 95 Legend GS, 95 Passport (not really a Honda), 92 Integra GSR, 91 CRX Si, 91 Civic Si (LS powered) and a lowly 86 Civic Si racecar with cage, Integra motor, the works. I hope that gives you some idea of how I like Hondas. I am waiting on my next buy, a Pilot or the new concept truck with a V-8 and get rid of the Isuzu.

Contact Info -
Cell 828.291.1309

Have a good one guys and I hope that you will at least call and give me a better chance to explain. Talk to you soon.

LSD Return Time

I think that a two week turn around is about average. He has done these on an emergency basis, but that is once he has all the jigs and disks made up and knows the specifics on the differential. I would think that 1 week and then to ship is possible once I put them in his hands.

Here are some diagrams and exploded view of a kaaz:

http://www.kaazusa.com/technology.asp
http://www.kaazusa.com/images/lsd_exploded_view.jpg

I would like to see pictures of the diff and a diagram of how it works or something comparable to the above. How would you compare it to a kaaz?

When are you going to drop one of these into your Legend? I would like to see the results of that.

Also with this design doesn't it try and force the internal gears against the housing in order to achieve the breaking force which will lock the LSD? Or even with the wear plates, if it wears down or breaks, it breaks the housing and sends bits everywhere probably ruining the tranny etc with it. And what about shattering the spider gears?

How many clutch plates are used?
How does it work under slippage of one wheel or when one wheel has no traction at all. Does it lock both wheels together or transfer power from one to the other? What if one wheel is lifted off the ground?

LSD info

I have looked at the Kaaz. Interesting.

The ones that we can make are made from your original diff and utilize your original gears. Your gears are ground to increase the surface area and to hook the two clutch packs to each of the ring gears. The surface of the housing is ground to accept the wear plate and to also increase the area. The blocks in the center are forcing the gears outward and the special disks help hold with more and more rotations. There has been no explosions since the start of all this. These do not cause those type of failures.

As for Kaaz, I think that they are a good diff. When you start from scratch, you better have a good one. Right?

I have no diagrams.

Now as for use, I have had these on track, autox, and hillclimbs in the rain. These diffs are awesome. They do allow for some slip which does give you better control when trying to manuever, especially in tight turns. You do not get any violent torque steer and really, I never feel any torque steer and I have a very light car with much HP. I have had both wheels on one side off the ground and the drive wheels will spin, but not excessively. When you have both wheels on the ground these things will keep the car very stable.

Email me for anything else.

hey where do you live at in atlanta. lets meet up and see what you are working with. or come to our meets. its fun havin a legend becuase its a challenge to get performance gains. thats why its fun. if i was all about speed i would have gotten somethin else. but the legend is classy and look alot better than a tegra or lude. i would never drive a 4cyl anyways.

If I order one of these where should I order it from and how hard will it be to find a place to get it installed and how much do you think that they will charge me. Way to go Christian!!! I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. I may be soon purchasing a B-pipe from you as well. Keep the great work up bro.
