I will discuss Headers with my guy at the end of March or sometime in April. At that time i will sit down and we will run the numbers to see if its worth a limited production. Headers are not easy. They dont build easy, they dont mount easy, and the Type I vs Type II have a pair pipe connection that needs to addressed. Hell, i have never peered under a coupe and cant say that the sedan mid to long tube headers will fit on a coupe the same way they fit the sedan, and i sure as hell wont build two different types.

We will see.

In this case, i can pretty well assure you that the sedan and coupe are similar enough for headers/y pipe to fit.

Superthread:Fastest/Most Powerful Confirmed Legend(DV8) All Mods,DYNO&1/4mile

In here you will eventually see my results of the cams. I should be scheduling a time next week to get the dynoed results. Stay tuned.

The Dv8ED Legend Idles good and revs good, no problems I cant currently detect any problems except for the engine shakes more than it did. I havent driven it around yet.

Kenso mentioned to me that his cam lobes didnt seem to be that close to the head castings, so we dont know if i recieved a higher lift cam or if its because mine was hardwelded by accident (good for me).

These are my web cams hardweld/regrind. Notice the fractions of clearance to the casting.

I am really keen to see if these work. I am really keen to see if Webcam can make a matched set of cams

If you get bored do me a favour

Turn the engine to TDC N0 1 Firing.
Flip the cambelt off.
Turn the engine 60 degrees clockwise.
Rotate the drivers side cam exactly 180 degrees
Weld up 2 spare hydraulic lifters.
Put one in CYL1 inlet rocker put the other in CYL5 inlet rocker(your choice of 2 rockers).
Turn the engine 60 degrees anticlockwise.
Put the cam belt back on.
Place a dial indicator in the inlet spring retainer CLY1.
Place a dial indicator in the inlet spring retainer CLY5.
Zero both indicators.
Rotate engine clockwise and note if dial indicators both move together,
If so, woop with delight.
If one indicator leads or lags the other place head in hands and cry.
If still bored at this point, put welded lifters into exhaust rockers and reapeat.

Or FEDEX me the cams and i will check them for you.
Remember to rotate drivers side cam 180 degrees before starting engine.

I might have been able to try this, but now ive already done the install and the car runs. Maybe on my next teardown.

Whats all this do?

It is an "easy" way to check the cams.

If you look at the firing order of our engine.

1-4-2-5-3-6

Or if i present it like this

1-4-2
5-3-6

You can see that when 1 is on compression 5 will be on overlap. When 4 is on compression 3 will be on overlap.2 and 6 also. The reverse is true as well when 5 is on compression 1 will be on overlap.3 and 4 6 and 2.

Overlap is also known as "rocking" and it is when the exhaust valve is closing and the intake opening.

By rotating the drivers side cam 180 degrees when 1 is on compression 5 will also be on compression. When 1's intake valve is opening 5's intake valve is opening.

Makes it very east to compare the two camshafts.

I see.
So i guess its a good sign the engine runs and idles smooth then? Did you have to grind the head castings away to fit your cam in?

No we had no clearance issues. Yes it is good that the engine idles smoothly.

When you go to dyno ask the operator to do a "plug chop"

I usually do them at peak HP RPM on full throttle.

A "plug chop" is when you hold the engine on the dyno at high load/rpm for around 15-20 seconds and then turn off the ignition and put your foot on the clutch.

Then pull the spark plugs and have a look at them.

If the cams are different then the plugs will look different from one bank to the other.

Buzzard, so you're saying this is just the quick easy way to degree the cam? It allows you to see how close of a match they are instead of just doing some math?

If this is any indication of the drive, im still jittery!

Man it was a blast. at 4k it starts to pull like crazy all the way to 6. 4k in 2nd hits so hard when you punch it, and never lets up. if i had real estate it would keep pulling through 6th gear.

I realized i still had my subs in so i dumped those and the difference is dramatic. Im still running full interrior and full stereo(2 amps, 1 dvd headunit and 6 speakers, tons of wiring).

Now i need to say that i also put in the 2.25 Y so im sure it has to do with some of the topend power. the lowend doesnt seem to be any different because im still loosing traction down low if i want to, but i do think the power has move more torwards mid-top now.
I scheduled a dyno on thrusday. the car is in drag trim and waiting.

So what would your butt dyno say, if you had to guess? Sounds like it's definately a very noticeable difference just like Kenso experienced.

Hey, by any chance do you know what our piston to valve clearance is with a stock cam? Also, do you know what cc our heads are?
