Dyno Results for the 3.5L swap

This was done Akron Horsepower in Summit County, which is 1050 feet above sea level. 55 degrees last night when I had this done. I didn't decide to tune the AFC today since we only did 2 runs, and I'm parking the car until the rest of the mods are done. The car will be torn down, again to have a few things installed, including headers, Y pipe, Telion Chip, and camshaft regrinds. After that, I already paid for 4 more runs to tune the AFC.

Take a look at my air fuel ratio, and the relation it has on my torque curve, or should I say, torque spikes. If my A/F ratio ran flat across the powerband, I would have a lot more torque. I have a lot of work to do, but now I know where my problems are. Also notice, my car is misfiring after 110mph in the first graph (which is about 5400 RPM). The last graph shows what happened. The A/F ratio dropped below 12:1, causing the misfire.

Max power = 187.64
Max torque = 218.37

I'll copy this into the dyno thread

Awesome, that thing is gonna be a torque monster. What are your current mods? Stock 3.5 with eliminated VIS on a stock Type I computer? Are you auto or manual/what gear did you dyno in? Are you using the 3.5 injectors or the 3.2? Is that spike a mis-fire, fuel cut, or detonation????

I dont know what those spikes are, i wouldnt worry to much about it since its after you made peak power. Although your A/F seems to dip down, straightening it would probably yield another 3-7 TQ. However when you install headers and a bigger y you will probably lose on that peak number and gain within the powerband. I tune my A/F for 12.7-13.7.

ported and gasket matched stock 3.5L with no VIS
Type I 5 speed ECU (no chip)
5 speed manual transmission, I dyno'd in 4th gear
I'm using the 3.2L injectors.
I'm guessing the spikes are from too much fuel being dumped into the cylinders and the spark plug not being able to ignite it.

You think the guy can fax you a new printout like your first dyno but with RPM instead of MPH?
I was going to map out your dyno accross the powerband but i cant do it accuratley unless you have the RPM as the scale.
All he has to do is print it again under RPM scale.

Thanks.

Mike,

here's the comparisions between my first 3.5 dyno and yours. I had to use the only dyno that you had RPM as a scale.

WHP

2.5 RPM
me:84 you:93
3.0
me:100 you:108
3.5
me:124 you:129
4.0
me:152 you:155
4.5
me:180 you: 177
5.0
me: 194 you:185
5.5
me: 199 you: no data
6.0
me: 182 you: no data

WTQ

2.5 RPM
me:174 you:194
3.0
me:175 you:188
3.5
me:184 you:197
4.0
me:200 you:204
4.5
me:211 you: 208
5.0
me: 203 you:194
5.5
me: 185 you: no data
6.0
me: 159 you: no data

ME:
intake, Y pipe, exhaust, chip, afc.

You:
intake, exhaust

Fairly close you edge me out in lowend while i on the topend. Probably the advantage of the chip, tuning and the Y pipe.

Mike, Looks good, especially off the line. But just like in a type I legend, around 4500, the tq starts to fall off hard. Thats why your HP numbers are so low. Headers, y pipe, etc, any breathing mods are going to help you big time. You want to open it up as much as you can. Shorter runner in the manifold, longer primaries on headers(i think, i will have to double check that) The tq will get you off the line, but after that you are going to have to spray it or really open up the breathing to get more out of it.

Oh, and shouldnt you dyno that in 3rd????

I wouldnt worry about that spikey torque graph. It looks like a problem with the
dyno. Notice the HP isnt spikey, which it would be if the engine was actually producing the spikes.
