Help me out here DV8:
1. i understand the concept of the CAI but wasup with ppl talking about water getting into the engine? is that where the bypass valve come into play and do you provide that w/ your CAI? if not how to install and get it from where? 2. what would be different about the CAI you have available now and the CAI for TCS? 3. in order to make this happen, you need the scrila($$$) up front and how much? Thanks |

You're gonna do Type I also now? Sounds good to me. One big problem area you will hit is the air suction tube hookup (I know from my aborted project). Good luck.

The problem is coming up with a good rigid mount point for the stock tube (if you go custom tube of course this doesn't apply).
You need to extend the drivers side flange back and twist it a bit to get the correct location. Needless to say: Easier said than done. This assumes you are extending the suction tube to the collector where it belongs. Other arrangements may work, but emissions effects may not be as good (talking system performance, not CARB cert).

DV8, did you not read my reply up above? i was asking for some help and information. here they go again:
1. i understand the concept of the CAI but wasup with ppl talking about water getting into the engine? is that where the bypass valve come into play and do you provide that w/ your CAI? if not how to install and get it from where? 2. what would be different about the CAI you have available now and the CAI for TCS? 3. in order to make this happen, you need the scrila($$$) up front and how much? or are these questions not worth addressing? you have a potential customer here ![]() |

Think of a CAI like a drinking straw. If the filter end is sitting in a puddle of water, your engine is going to suck up water, rather than air. To prevent this from happening, people put a by-pass valve between two of the CAI pipes. The by-pass valve is available from many vendors (Summit, JCWhitney, etc.). Installation is as basic as joining two pipes. Whether the by-pass valve is necessary is up for debate. And I believe DV8 has said in previos threads that the by-pass valve is not included in his kit. |

Ah i didnt see this thread previously. You can use the valve if it makes you sleep at night knowing you car is safe from water, however for the most of us its not nessasary. you inate has to submerged in a deep puddle of water before anything can ever happen. like the reply above you can buy the AEM valve anywhere. The TCS intake needs to be shorther than the NON TCS so id have to make the nessasary adjustments. SAME price. like the 7 people that have bought my intake you would need to pay me 245 and id make you an intake. within 2 weeks you would recive it. ~Hybrid

Thumbs up for making all of this happen!
See, this is what I like to see - people promising and delivering! Even though I don't own my 6-speed anymore, I still keep up with the boards, and it's good to see some people that are so dedicated to helping the Legend Community - good job DV8 (and also to Leon, for his group buys and Strut Bar R&D!)...
... better than some claims of "475 HP at the crank"... blah blah 10 second car... You all know who I'm talking about... But just wanted to say Stay Dedicated... with as much effort as you two put into all of this, I feel that you'll come up with something really special (like an FI setup) in the near future! Bravo!
