Question for those that have Ksports installed.
I've read pretty much everything on this form regarding the Ksports. I would like feedback from people that have these installed. This question is regarding the spring rates. I'm not planning on auto-xing my car, nor am I planning to track it. I don't want a bone jarring ride. The Legend is my daily. I'm looking for the front/rear spring rates that most resemble the stock rates. For those that actually have Ksports installed, what are your rates, and how is your ride?
For reference, I already have fut's front/rear strut bars, and the rear addco sway bar. I'm contemplating the front swar bar, but I've heard of member's cars sitting with a slight left/right tilt with this, so the jury is still out for me on that one.

im pretty sure ksport doesnt recomend changing the spring rates in fear of damaging the shock....but yes the ksports are pretty stiff so they might not be the best option for you. if you dont mind a stiff ride they are great.

yea, its defiantly a stiff ride! if you want an oem style ride get Koni's with like H&r springs. Also we are trying to get some custom adjustable end link made so that you can correct the preload if your are not sitting straight with the sway bar or to fine tune it. It should sit a little higher on the driver side when the car is empty.

I don't know how you guys say its stiff, to me its not very stiff at all. But when the weather gets cold it gets VERY bumpy. But on nice warm days they are soft if not softer then stock.
For more info check my thread in product reviews |

A little stiffness is expected, as that is what aftermarket shocks/springs do tend to do. I don't mind some stiffness, but are talking excessive amounts here? As in, any CDs skipping?
And Greek, I checked your thread, and DV8s, and the original Ksports thread, as well.Nopers, I don't mind a stiff ride, but on the other hand, I don't want to be saying "DAMN!" every time I see a pothole that I can't miss. I KNOW I'm not the only one that plays/played the pothole game: When I had my del sol, I had some 205/45/16s on it, and every time I saw a pothole I couldn't avoid, I'd kinda "jump" off my seat a little bit as I winced while rolling over the bump. |

Around here, in my dad's coupe, the potholes make me wince sometimes and he's on stock.
whats77inaname: i really have the same question as you do - i'm wary about the ksports as i like a firmer ride but i'm afraid of it being uncomfortable, not only to me but to anyone else who might ride with me as well. I think when it comes down to it, at some point, assuming cashflow doesn't go totally south like it did over the last couple weeks when unexpected stuff broke, i'll just buy the ksports and throw them on. If I like them, they'll stay; if not, they'll go up for sale. I don't know any other way to try out such an otherwise subjective part...

another thing that makes it had to tell if the springs are bouncy is the fact that the stock seats have a lot of spring in them so i feel like i am bouncing, but it might just be me in the seat.....
if a video will help i can film something with my digital camera. i could have a passenger record me sittin in the seat bouncing OR have a passenger ride with me and video out the front window? if you discribe what you want to see i can try to help u out in any way possible.

Man.....I'm just speechless, really, at that offer. I really, really appreciate you offering to do all of that, to go all out of your way like that just to help me out. But I think it'll just come down to what antik said....I'll just have to put them on and see what they feel like and sell them if I don't like them. I drive about 250 miles in one day every other weekend, and the road conditions vary, so that *should* give me a good idea of what I'm looking for. I'm hoping that I'll be pleased with these, and am pretty sure I will be. I just want to make sure that I'm covering all my bases. |

not to start flames, but if you get them use the measurements I posted in my review as a starting point. It really will help you achieve very little stiffness. But unless u wanna be about 1 1/2 off the ground dont do the last measurement that I did

*lol* You're not starting flames, it's all cool and the gang. Like I said, I've been reading everything I can about these, so it all helps.

I met up with kotetu off the 110 in L.A. and had to turn off the ch00nz because my CD player was out-to-lunch due to that freeway's poor roads ;P I've got the JICs, but Ksports must be similar with the dampeners adjusted up.
Dampeners are that jostling feel on the road (small bumps impact stiffer dampeners), and you can adjust those to a softer setting with Ksport. The springs are what give that, "oopss--just lost my lunch" when your car launches over a smooth, rolling bump on the freeway at 90mph. I prefer to have softer springs with stiffer dampeners, as that provides a generally smoother ride experience. My sport Elise is tuned this way, and it feels MUCH smoother than the Legend. The Legend is a joke in terms of comfort because of the stiff springs. Keep in mind that you'll want stiffer springs to drop farther, so it's sort of a double-edge sword from that perspective--damn ![]() Dampeners won't help a whole lot in the drop department. I'm not sure what you're trying to do exactly, but from the sound of it, you want to keep a smooth, comfortable ride quality. I don't think coil-overs are a good option for you. Eibach/Koni is arguably the most solid spring/dampener pair we've got. If you keep the Konis on full soft, you can lower a bit and retain some of the OEM ride. For a slightly stiffer ride quality, but a lower drop, go H&R/Koni, keeping the dampeners on full soft. k. P.S. Sorry about writing a novel here.

I'll let you know after tomorrow
![]() I'm going from H&R on Koni's at 5 clicks hard (stiffest setting) to the Ksports tomorrow. The way my dumbass drives I rub a good amount with the current setup since there is no bound adjustment, but if I drive like a normal person, the ride is fairly close to the OEM ride was.

No pics since I was in a hurry to get it done today, but from the little bit of driving I did, it's a LOT better
![]() whats77inaname - I'll roll on them this week and let you know what I think. I need to adjust some ride height and throw it around some more, but it doesn't feel too much different from the Koni/H&R setup - just more solid without feeling harsh. I'll post up a review by the end of this week.
