Question What do you use to supplement the back of the cat w/ out a cat-back exhaust?

Huh???

No, really. Id love to get a Remus exhaust, but just having the muffler upgraded without the rest of your plumbing doesnt seem like the best way to improve performance --more like buying a $650 Movado for your Legend to wear  .

Now, before I get attacked, I want to state the fact that Im sure the gains are still there, but at this point the Greddy sounds like a better choice.... Looks-wise: No. Sounding: No. But doing what an aftermarket exhaust is supposed to: Of course (all MHO, but Im sure a lot of you agree).

What I dont want is to start another thread about Greddy vs. Remus because there's been plenty of time and effort back-logged into that discussion, but what I do know is that a couple of you have installed custom-cats and I want to know:

-what you used for parts,

-and how you did it.

Anyone to cough up some juicy details???

Haven't done it but just go to a shop that can mandrel bend pipes and have them bend some pipes and hang a flowmaster muffler off the end. Find some tips/tip you like to finish it off.

I wouldn't recommend going beyond 2.5" pipe or you'll kill your low end.

Thanks,

now when you say "go to a shop" do you mean an auto mechanic or someone else more specialized?

...and a flowmaster muffler .

Wink No better person to help than the Godfather....

Looks like you probably know exactly what I need to know (let alone you own my EXACT same car --hey, a car like ours is too beautiful not to have duplicates, right!? Just dont buy the rims Im getting  !).

What is it that I need to know? I guess will start with the question that hurts most to ask... How much?

And you're not at all worried about emissions without having a cat? ...or you just dont care (completely valid answer )?

Final Note: Flowmasters = Sallies

The fact that the word "flowmaster" ever even made it to this forum disgusts me. It should be considered slander and automatically replaced with asterisks . Shame on you :p .

Cannot agree more.. lol... I'm looking to get Racing Hart M6 or CP-035R. I'm stuck between those two so if not looking at those, then you're safe.

My exhaust costed me $1100 CND including the Remus muffler ($520 CND). Which the whole system worked out to be about $700 USD with the muffler. This was all mandrel bent Stainless Steel piping.

I told them to build the exhaust piping and put flanges as if I want to mount my cat. But instead of REALLY mounting my cat, I told them to make a "test-pipe" which is just a straight piece of 2.5" pipe with flanges on each side (exact same dimensions as the cat) to bolt on to the rest of the system. Therefore I run no cats all the time, but when emissions testing comes every 2 years, I take off the test-pipe and put the cat back on.

I permanently removed the pre-cats (only exist on the Type II).

That cat adds so much restriction, now my exhaust is completely free flowing.

Talking FLOWMASTER'S

:p Its true the sound of flowmaster is very delicious. However I notice you can see a good piece of the muffler under our Legends not just the tips. Unfortunatly I dont think flowmaster makes a stainless steel model they all look like a very dull steel. I think your legend would look much nicer from different angles with a very shiny chrome muffler and dual tips *blinging* from underneath your car.

Godfather

I think I followed the idea of your setup pretty well, but of course I have a couple more questions.

Pre-cats, now? Never knew we had em, but you removed them and simply did straight piping I assume?

Flanges? Sounds like they are a break in the exhaust system with connecting parts, thus making the pieces separable. If Im right there, then I guess its starting to make sense.

$550 CDN (or $345 AMER) FOR A REMUS EXHAUST?!?!?
-where can I get me one of them!?

Final and most important question, G: WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR FREE-FLOWING EXHAUST!? I MEAN, DOES IT ROCK OR WHAT!?

Oh, and I would definately prefer the multi-piece C6's. A classy-looking racing wheel if thats even possible. For myself, Im completely sold on G-racing Naganos (prob. the "Black Pearl" color if it really looks like what you see in the pic --talk about unique-- and not to mention "classy-racey" ).
