There was some confusion surrounding my announcement about the upcoming site update. We decided to pull it back due to the fact that we would like to answer some of the questions brought on by the announcement. I am trying my best to explain some of the changes below:
1. A navigation bar which will appear on all forum pages similar to the one on the homepage. This will include navigation links to content and will showcase our site sponsors. The current V.I.P. members will have the ability to turn off the left nav from their user CP, and we will be moving them up to the new Premium Package. I will provide you with detailed instructions on how to turn the sidebar off.
* NOTE: current VIP members & Premium members will have the ability to turn off the left nav.
2. New membership packages. The supporting membership packages will retain all the features of the existing V.I.P system and will add a couple more "perks" for supporting members such as more attatchment space (50 MB), and the ability to turn off the left navigation bar.
3. Now to get to some of the non-update related user questions. Some users have been asking about the homepage content and the AutoGuide logo. After the update, we will ensure that the AutoGuide box on the right side nav bar will be collapsible for all members.
We are not making any major changes to the homepage.
4. Finally we can address the banner question. From the poll I started, it is apparent that the old banner is preferred by the community. With the amount of photoshop gurus on the site, the community can benefit from a banner competition, and we are open to your feedback on this subject.
In closing, if there is anything further I should clarify, please let me know. I will let you know when we have an exact date for the update. Thanks for your patience and support!
I don't really see a need for a navigation bar on the side.
Not only does it reduce thread-viewing space, there is already basic navigation on the top and a drop-down list on the bottom. Is it possible to only add this to the newer theme and not the vibrant?
i think as the new admin you need to post some pics of what you drive and give us a little info about yourself
I am your typical family guy right now, I have a Subaru Forester. I used to be heavy into tuning cars, but between work and kids and lack of space, I only have the one car right now. Only a CAI in it so far. Looking to get an import going on for a summer project, but might just end up buying a motorcycle instead. I was a car mechanic for years before getting into my current job. Not much else going on right now except work.

There will be other useful links in the sidebar, and site links that aren't available on the top nav. It will also showcase the site supporters. The sidebar will be applied to all available skins, but the good news is we are keeping the vibrant. It seems to be a popular one here.
Flash chat or something similar to the chat on Custom Fighters would be amazing and a great addition to the website. As for the Photoshop, like ive stated before, i will be glad to participate if asked. I myself use the vibrant skin and am glad to hear that it will be staying. i wish there weren't so many changes, and so quickly at that, however im greatly revealed that there's at least SOME forum member input!
Sounds good Nadeem! Can't wait for the update. It's going to be great! When are you planning on doing it?
Yes, vibrant seems to be the favorite. Here's my thread: Which A-L.com web style do you like better?
Maybe you could incorporate the Vibrant into the home page too? Just throwin' that out there.

Thanks for the info. I know this site costs money, but do we really need ads on all four sides?
