I thought to drain the transmission fluid you took off one of the lines going to the radiator and turned on the car and let it pump it out then drained the fluid from the pan. thats how i have done it in the past?

Exclamation

I couldn't find that F type fluid so I put dishwashing detergent into my transmission and it cleaned all the parts very well and broke down all varnish build up. get one with lemon scent - works best. .

there is simple trans. fluid change (3.5qts) and there is complete flush (10-12 qts) using specialized equipment. ANYTHING ELSE IS BS.

I hope you're joking. You seriously put Palmolive in your transmission?

Smart Blend

OK, I got my bottle of Smart Blend (too bad I didn't see the link to the discount store first!). Just noticed that the bottle calls for 1 oz. per quart of Dexron, but the procedure calls for the whole bottle (10 oz.) even though there should only be 5 quarts of Dexron in the car.

Do you guys use the whole bottle or half bottle?

hi folks, what do this flush supposedly do for you? I have a 89 Legend and it sometimes vibrates as I drive slowly (around 35 - 40 mph). It shifts great when I accelerate through. Does this mean the solenoid or whatever is clogging up and this help flushes them?

Flushing it could help. This DIY is mostly for the G2 Legends.

I would check this thread: http://www.acurarl.org/vbulletin/sho...light=solenoid

You may have to remove the solenoid to clean it correctly. I had the same problem with every single one of my G1's (had 4).

Thanks.........I will try flushing it first before cleaning the solenoids since they will get clogged up after flushing.

It's just 3.5 qts on a drain and fill. Nothing else is needed. Just be sure to use Honda ATF.

Because Honda ATF is especially formulated for Honda transmissions, and Honda trannies like it. Honda ATF is what's highly recommended for the benefit of your transmission, but you can choose to use whatever ATF you wish (except Type-F).

Just for reference, the "Gil" in the title is an early member of the community who also happens to be V.P. of a Honda/Acura transmission rebuilding company.

I didn't know that. I pissed Gil off back in the day on the old forums. I was such an idiot back then.
