DIY Dash removal writeup (Second Gen.)
Pics will be included soon. Feel free to chime in if I need to make any corrections. This is all from memory.
Installation is the reverse of removal.

remove airbag if applicable. There are a few harness', screws and nuts your missing. But you've written the gist of it.

m: I am gonna pull my brown dash shortly for my swap.
I'd be happy to include any applicable pics you have too.h: see above, lol b: I don't think I removed the airbag before I pulled the dash. I'm pretty sure it was after I pulled it out. I suppose I may have done it while the dash was in. ![]() t: get a broad flathead screwdriver and a shop towel, put the screwdriver (covered in the shop towel) between the knob and the boot and twist the screwdriver until the boot pops down slightly, then push it down the rest of the way. Now twist off the knob. a: thx. ![]()

I already swapped it! haha.
I am thinking of dying the pillars and ceiling - feeling too lazy to pull them and recover them.so far I have dyed: under steering dash cover driver's side door handle (the brown part) brown AC vents. everything works fine. I used the vinyl dye I found at summit racing's website. Satin black. just mist it slowly and VERY lightly and it will come out great.

![]() btw, how long does this removing the dash take? I have the black dash complete i just dont think its worth it if it takes 6hours to do. |
