They're interchangeable parts.

According to Ray Lacks Acura parts. dept., 19300-PR7-A01 and 19301-P8E-A10 are interchangeable parts. I just completed my normal 2 hour commute this morning, and the temperature was what it should be, so I'll take their word for it. The thermostat looked exactly the same as the one I removed, so I'm not anticipating any issues. When I brought this up to the service person that sold the part, he verified that he checked before he shipped it out.

Thermostat

Yeah that is the same thermostat for the Legend, a little while ago I bought one from Acura in Markham and they said the Legend one was discontinued because this is the same part for the TL,etc. No worries it works fine for me too.

HG job

It's going very slow but good; just so much downtime due to other commitments; school, work, etc. Hopefully it'll be done very soon, I'm just waiting on this one part (the stud in the head that holds the exhaust manifold). Heads are machined, ready to go; probalby this week I'll get it done.
Thanks
Aziz

no need to drain the fluid

just makes htings more time consuming if your not doing that, leave somethign to catch the fluid as it falls when you open the housing and put it back in when your done, your still going to need to add more later when the car heats up but thats a given from all the air that got in to the system.

Thanks for the DIY.

I had a bitch of a time removing the plastic protector under the car. Took out about 10 screws. Do you guys just leave it off?

After I changed my coolant and thermostat I just decide to leave it off since it was such a PITA.

No it's there for a reason. It's not that hard to put on once you know where all the screws are. It stops rain/water/mud splashing up into the engine area and I also think it helps with ducting air at high speed through the radiator and A/C condensor, instead of just going around it. The engineers don't spend time and money on R&D to put things on that just add to manufacturing costs. They've decided it's overall beneficial to be on the car.

i love you for making this write up. Now before i go ahead and do anything. Im changing my thermostat because my heat is so slow for some reason. even when at 32 degrees celcius i get minimal heat.. it only gets strong when i gun it.. is this symptoms of a bad thermostat?

G1s have a little hatch w/ one screw holding it in to gain access to the radiator drain plug. Do you G2 guys have to remove the entire lower splash guard to get to it?

For G1 owners... did mine yesterday (looked like the original from '89 heh). Pretty much the same procedure for G1s cept you have to remove the stock airbox (if you still have one), remove the lower radiator hose, and the thermostat housing is held in by two 10mm bolts. I had half my engine bay apart when I did mine so there may be a few more things to take off but its pretty easy either way.

good DIY...I also replaced both upper and lower hoses, flushed cooling system, bleed the system for air bubbles and changed PVC valve.

LOL i had more trouble with the bumper since whoever owned the vehicle before me did a shitty job putting it on.
