Yes, in essence, you want to make a connection between the two wires. The ignition needs to be turned to the second position (third position being the one that starts the car).
...I'm new. What can I say. Oh. Did I mention that I am mechanically inclined? I screw up everything. But, before I screw this up...
I have read all the posts, and think I have a pretty good idea of what to look for, and understand the light sequence. I went to the Helm site, but, I'm not sure WHAT I'm looking for there. I saw several items in the DIY section, but, have no idea which one I need to read the codes.
I just bought the car today, and the check engine light has come on. The seller had no clue (go figure, it was his son's car and been sitting for about a month). What, EXACTLY, do I need to get the codes? Thanks for the help.

Look under the passenger seat there is a little metal box covered by a piece of black plastic (with a clear plastic window) and a light that flashes when you have the key in the aux position. Count the amount of times it blinks and use this list below to to diagnose the problem.

I am hella lost? This will help prevent future problems by finding out what your ECU is reading? will this help fix my shimmy problem? ( swurving left to right on the freeway on some roads)

ANY DIY on how to acess this unit?
the ECU only spits out codes when theres somethin electrically or mechanically wrong with the engine...if theres nothing wrong, it wont tell you any codes, so you cant prevent anything that may happen later...
and it doesnt deal with anything other than the engine, so no it wouldnt fix your shimmy problem

Let me know !please
well theres no need to even check the ECU unless your Check Engine light is on...if not, dont worry about it...thats a good thing lol.
No check engine light = no major problem = ECU wont even say anything to you
just curious, did you go back to the FIRST post where Leon explained how to do everything? lol...or you did, and you just still didnt understand it?

On the 1991-1995 Acura/Honda Legends, you have to jump a service connector located on the passenger side right under the dashboard near the door. The connector has two pin inputs. Connecting them with something like a paper clip will force the check engine light on the dashboard to display the codes.
Extracting Codes
With the car either running or the key in the ON position, perform the necessary steps above and observe the blinking of the light. The light will blink displaying all the codes in sequence and then repeating them.
Reading Codes
The code numbers are read by counting the number of blinks between longer pauses. On 1986-1990 Legends, the code number is indicacted by a series of rapid LED blinks between longer pauses.
On 1991-1995 cars, codes 1-9 are indicated by a series of short flashes; two digit codes use a number of long flashes for the first digit followed by the number of short flashes for the second digit. So a code 43 will be represented by 4 long and 3 short flashes.
The position of codes in a sequence can be helpful in doing diagnostics. A display showing 1-1-1-pause-9-9-9 indicates two problems occurring at different times. A sequence showing 1-9-1-9-1-9 indicates two problems occurring at the same time.

More flashing LED's
Sweet!!! I fixed one problem from those codes. Thanks Leon.
I recently bought a 1988 Honda Legend Exclusive Ti (2.0 litre V6 Turbo - Japan import - I'm in New Zealand). I found the flashing LED under the passengers seat and sorted that one out. NOW, I have another flashing LED under the drivers seat. What could that one be? It's giving me a code of 2 long flashes, and 8 short. Help? Please?

It's you TCU or your Transmission Electronic controle unit. here is a link to the transmission codes, but I don't know if they apply for your model. YOu kinda have a rare car and alot of the parts are different. hope that helps, and take pictures of the car I wanna see Turbo V6 Legend .

Hmm, it doesn't appear to have any of those problems listed in the codes you provided.
Maybe it is different for this model.
All the fluid levels are sweet, the gear changes are nice and the kick-down is ok. Might have to pull it apart.
I bought it as a cheap do'er-up'er. $650NZD ain't bad. She's a bit scruffy at the moment, so I'll throw some engine degreaser at the engine and clean it up then take some pics for ya. Nothing spectacular, very factory stock standard.
BUT, it's to be a work in progress and I'll keep you updated. Cheers, Dan.
Oh!! Does anyone know where the hell the aircon fan is on these things? The aircon pump works and cools the air, but unless the car is moving, the air doesn't get forced into the cabin. Need to fix the fan unit, wherever it may be??? Bah!! and I discovered an oil leak from out the top of the front rocker cover too.
