the way i checked to see if it was closed was just simple reach out the window and feel with my hand to see if its flush. after a couple times of using it you can see how long it takes to close it, usually its about a 1second push. just practice, but make sure you lube the tracks after you clean them |

As long as the moon roof is closed correctly, theres no noise problem. You get used to closing it. The only issue I had was going from tilt to open, it would get stuck. I simply had to rub some silicon spray on the back rubber seal of the moon roof though and its been fine ever since.

andy to remove the wind deflector there is a plastic piece that covers the 2 nuts holding it. remove both plastic pieces and unscrew the nuts, then you have to move the wind deflector back and forth to get it to come out.
Just wanna say I did tihs in the dark took a little over 2 hours but o well no biggie I got time to mess around now. Only problem I saw with this DIY is it could use a couple more steps, andy is a example of what I mean by. Also it works nicely now, only problem I have is I broke a stud that holds the window deflector... so that means I have no window deflector, is it that big of a deal? will the oem sunroof cover cause the jackhammer noise to go away? If so I gotta buy one asap. |

as i finished reading all the replies i just realized i am probably the only retard who messed up this mod. I have a 4 door and after i changed the location of the stoppers i tested the rail and the drivers side guide frail went wayy too ahead and hit the sunroof frame of the car and it wouldnt go back so somehow i managed to put it back and then realized that the slide poped out of the rail now i have no clue how to pop it back in. i will post up pics in a few hours so that everyone gets a more clear idea of what i am talking about. PLs i need your help is there a screw or anything that i can unscrew so that i can pop the slider back on the rail.
thanks |

The DIY mentions using needle nose pliers, but I used and ratcheting offset screwdriver like Craftsman Offset Ratchet Screwdriver Set - Model 4116 at Sears.com. I purchased a ratcheting offset screwdriver similar to this Craftsman at Lowe's for under $5.
It was a little weird to get these off due to the postioning and would be easier with a 2nd person holding up the rails for you. Good luck. .

alright note to self.. when working up side down.. left is right and right is left...
no wonder i couldnt get those two damn screws off... i was tightening them instead of loosening them. the job should have taken 30 minutes tops... took me a good hour and half because it took me at least another 30 minutes to figure out what i was doing wrong. -vice grips are you friend for those two screws. amazing/simple mod. i love it. ![]() |

In my big tool set I have a socket screw driver with a bunch of fittings for different size screws. The tool is ordinarily useless and the last thing I'd use but the small 1 inch fittings were perfect to wedge in there. Just got it fit correctly and turned it with some pliers.
EDIT: Like the little guys in the bottom of this picture: ![]()

question for you all.. when tilted. does your weather strip on your moonroof driver side front fit smoothly/flush ?
because my driver side weatherstrip is squished up a little bit, as if the weatherstrip isnt alligned or something.. wierd.. dont think it affects anything but in the long run it might ware out the weather strip.. |
