B&M Fuel Pressure Gauge Installed (pics)

Hey guys,

Installed a B&M fuel pressure gauge this morning. The reasons include wanting to make sure my pump was putting out correct pressure and the possibility of future fuel pressure modifications that will require a quantitative measurement of pressure.

It's an easy install...took about 10 minutes...mounts right on top of the fuel filter throgh the use of a new banjo bolt that comes in the kit. Clearance is minimal though...barely clears the hood when down (see last photo).

Fuel rail is at 32psi ...from what I've read that is about right.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Later

wow looks great, what model number and price for that particular guage. I might be adding a Fuel Pressure Guage and an oil pressure guage this week.

It's B&M part number 46054 . Cost me 30 dollars at Jegs.com

I have other installation photos if anybody needs them.

Thanks for the comments!

Hmmm, I'm wondering if anyone makes a kit for a fuel pressure gauge to be mounted inside the car.

it would be easiest to use an electric fuel pressure gauge...the fitting that came with my kit had a standard NPT thread to it. Then use a gauge like one of these:

http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugede...earch&gid=3121

I like autometer gauges...have them in my truck.

the procomps are usually in a good price range for a quality gauge.

btw...are you worried about loss of FP while driving? Or do you just want to see what you get when flooring it?

I just took a look at the prices for those gauges I listed...holy $hit! 200 bucks...there has got to be a cheaper alternative. I just wouldn't want to run a mechanical into the car. Maybe someone make a short sweep electic for cheap.

Nah, I'm planning on boosting fuel Pressure in the future. Plust I wanna see what is actually getting to the injectors. I had Dakota Digital guages in my 1989 Frieghtliner Cabover, they worked awsome. Dakota digital can make custom gauge packs to fit just about any cluster. I was thinking that since my factory Tach don't work and I have a Auto Meter Tach in the car. I'm gonna see if they can put four digital gauges in the factory Tach's location. I was thinking: Fuel Pressure, Battery Volts, Oil Pressure and Oil Temp. How does that sound to you?

Later!
Lenny
