Cooling Fan Always On
Hello. I am having a problem with my radiator cooling fan system. From the time i start up the car in the morning to the time i get home from work at night, the cooling fan is running. This happens regardless of whether or not i have the A/C on or regardless of the temperature of the cooling system. The temperature of the coolant (via the gauge in the dash) acts normal...starts at the bottom when cold and creeps to the middle and stays there.
I know that the fan is not hardwired to 12V because the problem jsut started a couple days ago, and I realize that this is not really an immediate problem, but it is annoying. I don't know if this has to do with the fan control unit or the sensor or what. ANy suggestions on what to try? |

I did look in my Service Manual.
In the diagnostic symptoms chart, a continuously running fan was not listed as a symptom. BTW, is it both fans, or just one (which)? There is a Fan Timer Control unit on the side of the ECU, and a Fan Control Unit at the top of your brake pedal. Then, there's at least one Fan Relay in the under hood fuse box. If I were going for one stuck in the ON position, it'd be the brake pedal. I bet, though, you're getting a TCU Code 12.

>>What would a transmission control unit have to do with a cooling fan problem.<<
Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me either, but see this: http://www.legend-forum.com/vbulleti...threadid=42280

I have the same problem and it too only started recently. It is the condensor fan that is located to the left if facing the front of the car, correct?
I have replaced the Rad fan control unit with a new Oem unit last year, so I'm going to rule that out. I'm gonna try replacing the relay behind the windshield wiper reservoir and see if that does the trick. |

If you're talking about the little thing attached to the ECU (fan control unit), it is a $2.50 part if you go to a junkyard and find it. Heck, if you send me money for shipping I can send you one. However, there is a much more expensive part called the fan control relay which is hidden up underneath the dash which is a ***** to get to and is also a fairly expensive part to buy/labor to replace it. I had mine done at the Honda dealer and I got charged something like $200 or $250 for parts/labor.
