Driving Lights Installed (pictures)

Hey guys,

Just finished installing a set of driving lights on my coupe. I didn’t mount them in the bumper fog light knockouts as my air intake duct is mounted in the drivers side one. Instead I mounted mine inward toward the grill. They are a set of Hella FF75’s…pretty cheap on eBay. They included everything for installation including wiring and a relay which Hella decided to make bright blue…good instructions too. I wired mine to an Acura fog light switch that I picked up at a junkyard (I think that’s the only reason I did this…had a switch and nothing to use it with)

. These look brighter than my stock headlights and add quite a bit to what I see down the road.

The install was pretty clean…Since I had to take off the bumper I was able to do a proper wiring job with split loom. Also found an easy spot to pass a small wire into the cabin. There is a rubber grommet on the driver side which has the two cable pulls for the hood release. You can find it if you remove the wheel well cover and look near the large bundle of wires going into the cabin. I punched/drilled a small hole through this and passed the trigger wire through it. Overall it was a good experience…got to take off my bumper and play with wires that I had no business messing with (wiring into fuse block).

nice same spot as mine.. i connected mine to my parking lights, so they're always turned on and when i disarm my alarm they flash as well..

Ditto on the parking lights...forgot to mention that. Wired them into the parking light so I can't leave them on by accident.

Looking Good!! I especially like the shape verses a pair of round ones I was going to install in mine… I might just pick up a similar pair instead..

One question though… If you also tapped into your parking lights, why did you have to run the wires through your firewall to a switch? Is the switch necessary at that point?

The switch is only necessary if you want to be able to shut off the lights at any point. I wanted the ability to run without them if they are too bright for certain situations. If you just want them to come on when your regular lights do then most kits come with a clip that splices into the power line to the headlight. Another reason I routed through the firewall was that I did not want to risk messing with the wiring at the headlights. I wanted this to be as clean as possible so I tapped into the low power signal off the combination switch at a connector under the dash. An inadvertent discovery that was made was that since the driving lights can get power when the parking lights are on…I can run only the driving lights without the headlights if I want to and still have tail lights. Not sure why I would want to do this, but I have the option.

Hey Body i think they look awesome...the lights' shape definitely compliments the rest of the front end design...great work!
