Daaaaamn! Congratulations!

I paid $600 shipped for my engine. I'd say somewhere in the ballpark of $800 shipped for the combination?

One thing to keep in mind: most of these JDM engines are literally chopped out of the cars. Someone basically just takes a machete to the wiring harness until they can lift the engine out. You can reuse your USDM wiring harness, but it'll require some slight modifications.

Yessurrrr. eBay ftw!

hehe thanx. i really, REALLY wish i had the means to do rebuilds and such myself. it would be a fun project and a good learning experience but alas, no.
i asked a mech today and he told me its cheaper to go jdm than to rebuild. and that its $1500 for a tranny swap (with new clutch) and $3500 for tranny and engine (with new timing belt/water pump). he told me he won't accept car parts i provide even if i brought it to his doorstep cuz he wants to avoid any problems that may occur afterward. he will insure his own work and parts that he provides himself.

originally, i thought $3500 was kinda steep but on second thought, i'm practically getting a whole new car so...hmm

and yeah, thanks again, everyone. this car will go on for many more miles. i just wanted to keep that "original engine/tranny" title but that requires more than what i can offer so oh well...

Congrats, 473,000 (km's though) myself, I thought i was doing good and trying to catch you. Crap!

It does not run like a car with that mileage on it. Every time I look at the odometer it's so strange. I remember saying good bye to other cars I owned long before that number. The car just runs with no surprises.

Why don't you run her till she dies? Then you should swap the engine/tranny.

it's what i planned to do but... it goes both ways. i don't have have $1500 for a jdm tranny, and surely not the $3500 for both engine and tranny. the brakes have been problematic ever since i got the car. the electrical had been weak until last week when i thought to clean the battery terminals... on top of that, the car's 3 different colors, both bumpers crunched, and i'm sure it has some axle damage.

anyhow, yeah, there're quite a few things on my 5-speed that beg for attention and i'm beginning to think it's easier/cheaper to get me another 5-speed legend in better condition.

HOWEVER!! i'm still driving my 5-speed around (it's at 400600 right now) so i suppose eventually, i'll save up enough for a full restoration.

yeh. i drive like 80~100 miles a day so i suppose it's not easy to catch up (though i do switch off with my auto when i feel like it). i believe there was someone else with more mileage than i. looking thru threads for him/her now...

Most weeks I put about 750 kms on it. Spring/Summer I switch around with my cars but usually take the Legend if I have longer commutes. It gets the best gas mileage. I've started my spring repairs. CV joints, small gas leak, caliper service, parking brake, cracked fog lamp lenses (winter is rough this year).

^^^^ pacallen^^^^

Thanks, when i see your sig it always reminds me of my car snow & all. I'm planning on spending a few bucks this year and getting the body done properly this spring when i put insurance back on the others shortly. Then it's on to 500!

CONGRATS!! I have been looking for those with HIGH miles and seems we are a rare breed...altho I would expect that we all have it in us!! I drove an Integra to 197K miles before someone hit me!!

Im so excited! I am only 23K away from 300,000!! At the rate I drive, I should be hitting it before the end of the year...

My car has been a dream...original engine and tranny, altho the axel is now 2 weeks old!
