FIRST UPDATE ON LegeNd-SX (NSX to legend engine swap)
04/july/2008 UPDATE
I thank everyone in this forum for their support words about this special and difficult project.
I will try to do my best to keep you updated about any progress done, but anyone that has being interested in the idea of doing a NSX engine swap in any Legend knows that yes all Honda c series engines (c27a1, c27a4, c30a and c32) are very similar and that maybe some are swappable with a lot of MAJOR changes, lots a custom work, lots of money and spare time to do the work…well I hope I will able to do it.
Today I took some preliminary dimensions of both engines mounts and mount locations, and yes there are discrepancies on size and locations, but this can be fixed by creating custom mount brackets on the G1.
Second obstacle I see right away is the transmission linkage facing wrong way and this has to be fix ether by creating custom linkage or by reversing the operation of the gear switching arms on the trany but I still need to do a lot more research on this if not possible will need different trany will see…
Yes C30 bigger, taller, and wider… will fit G1 engine bay? Yes because I remove all these accessories that are not necessary in a drag car and there is more room that the normal stock G1…
If anyone knows anything about switching or inverting the direction of the linkage on manual transmission or knows some or shop that might be able to help with work please let me know I will appreciate the help…
Guess I missed the start of the project. Saw the delivery of the NSX but wasn't aware then the intent was to pull the engine to put into a Legend. Boy, that sucker will run. Thought you were going to fix the NSX.
Very interested in the project. Hope you post pics all along the way. In fact, I'd encourage moderators to provide your own area to log it sequentially.
Good luck. Will be lookin' in.
Cost is bound to be extrodinary. Heck, the engine (with car remainder) was almost $12k by itself.
Do you have a sponser?
