FYI: Main Relay repair.
Last week, on the hottest day yet here, my car would not start at all. It would crank strongly but never catch, and no fuel smell came out at all, also, there was no click from under the dash.
Thanks to all you guys and this great forum, I knew exactly what it was. So I went under the dash and found the relay, removed the connector and then unsnapped the board from its case (no need to remove the whole thing at all). I found 1 cracked solder joint and 2 other shaky ones. So, I resoldered everything questionable, then snapped the board back in the case, and plugged it in. Hopefully, that is the end of that.
I wanted to thank all who posted on this topic, it would have been much more difficult to troubleshoot this problem without help. A guy at work spent $1,100 on his Acura last year for the same condition of intermittent starting, where the dealer kept throwing parts at the problem, now he knows it was probably a $65 relay.
"The right information is priceless"
Eli.
