Gabe, not to rain on the parade, but my stock calipers and rotors already lock up my wheels with minimal effort, i dont really see a reason to go bigger. although, if you can get the 5 lug pattern, then i guess it may be worth it.

Brake fade is a bitch. They will lock up your wheels easily the first and second time. try doing it a heap of times from high speed the time will come when you jump on the breaks and nothing happens and it sucks if you are headed for a T intersection at 70mph

Wish I had known better or been a bit more insightful (or both!) when I did my brakes back in 04...
Went from OEM organics to Axxis Metal Masters and d/s rotors...the fronts are still only 10.2 inchers too... Braking has been nothing but awesome on canyon runs and emergency stops alike....practically zero fade....and THATS with just better pad material and some good rotors... So I am thinking that more braking surface area would be great...although in this case we dont seem to be gaining an EXTRAORDINARY amount, but it is an increase nonetheless.... ![]() Also, even the possibility of a 5-lug conversion has me tossing and turning at night and having my mind wandering during Sunday morning mas... |

I was thinking about just redrilling the rotors. I helped my friend do that for Q45 rotors to throw onto his 240.

What kind of brake hoses, pads and rotors are you running tubadude? I can only lock my brakes on gravel, ice or snow. Granted I haven't slammed them at anything over 45. Actually that reminds me of that other thread; brakes on this car may be my 2nd favorite item.

yup, he runs them w/o trouble, but with the driving we do when we're cruising... he still kills the breaks until they're smoking.

but no ABS, my pump dont work. as for brake fade, i never push my car that hard, out of the ~30,000 miles ive put on the car, ive had to lock up the wheels twice, once a BMW almost flew into me, second time was a semi pulling in front of me (dont think he saw me) both times over 50 mph, the rest of the time i am pretty mellow, and if i need to use my brakes alot, i downshift to reduce my use for brakes. |
