HELP ID => black hose w/radiator fluid behind drive belts

I could use a hand. My car has a slow leak of radiator fluid. I have traced the leak to a medium diameter black hose just behind the drive belts on the left side of the engine. The hose runs from a silver gizmo placed low up to the back side of the engine where it hooks in.

Can anyone help me in identifying the hose so that I can arrange for a replacement? Also, what is that silver gizmo?

By the way, after my first look, I have pretty much decided that replacing the hose might not be a simple DIY job. Access seems to be a problem. If you know otherwise and it is simple to replace, let me know and please share a few pointers/instructions.

Thanks, in advance.

Sounds like the silver gizzmo is your oil cooler. It has 2 water hoses running to it. Replace both hoses and figure 8 oring that seals the oil cooler to the block, since it's much easier to pull the entire cooler off to do this job.

Hello, PSA. It is good to see a familiar sign-on from the other Forum.

Thanks for your assist in identifying the oil cooler. I guessed as much, but don't have much experience with the item.

Hmmm. I had not thought of replacing both hoses. Had planned on just replacing the one that is leaking without removing the oil cooler. You may be right about it being easier to remove it. The dealership has the one hose for $14. Imagine two would be just double.

I will have to look at the engine to see what you mean when you reference a figure-8 o-ring and how it works to seal the oil cooler to the block.

In any case, thanks for lending a hand.
