high beam indicator situation

i just got through taking my dash apart to replace a blown high beam indicator bulb. i tested the old bulb first...it was just fine. hmmmm.

since putting my dash back together with a known good bulb, i have noticed this symptom: when i turn on the high beams, nothing happens. at the exact moment i click the high beam switch again (to turn them off) the indicator lights up for a fraction of a second and it's not blue, but a purplish-brown color.

does this sound like an electrical problem to anybody? maybe a physical problem with the plastic blue window? i'm not sure. this situation is really pissing off the oncoming drivers...ha haaa!

Sounds like it might be electrical only... perhaps in the wiring?
