Honda ATF really makes a difference
Hey all...I just got my car back from the dealer. (90k service).
The car shifts so much better now..before the tranny was so jerky...but now its kinda nice.. The honda dealer left one of those plastic red roses on the dashbard with a little thank you note.....my wife thought it was sweet.... All i wanted was the stupid car wash which i did not get cause of the drought here in MD.... The service is like night and day between honda and acura. Last time i went to acura..you get treated so well..plus you get free starbucks and krispe kream..... eh whater...at least they both do a good job on the cars... Besides with the money saved with going to honda istead of acura i could buy like 20 dozen donuts... ![]() |

Just do a drain and fill with Honda ATF, every oil change for 3 oil changes (9000 miles, 3 Honda ATF drain and fills). Difference will be like night and day.

A tranny flush , simply put, my "loosen up" a lot of fluid in the transmission, that on paper is a good idea, but in reality, may damage the transmission. I like to compare it to a dentist powerwashing your teeth and washing away the plaque. While plaque is bad, it may be "holding together" the teeth, if you will. But brush your teeth very well over a long time, you get the same result. That's what a drain and fill would accomplish ( )If you do a drain and fill, (a quart is like 3-5 bucks each, and the exact amount you may need will be like anywhere from 3 to 4... (3.4 perhaps), but you'll have to measure it out. Also, use ONLY Honda ATF, and to get it cheaper , go to a Honda dealer, not an Acura dealer. My 1989 Legend coupe has 193 k miles, and I noticed an immediate difference w/ the first tranny drain+fill, the 2nd tranny drain+fill made the shifts better and the 3rd one made my gas mileage go up (as crazy as that sounds). I did one just about 2-3 k miles ago , but I have to do one again because my fluid sat for a good 8 months w/o use of the car and I started driving the car again , so I'm sure a lot of the tranny fluid I have is bad by now.

When you post, there's a part that says
vB CODE -- B I U (SIZE) (FONT) (COLOR) See the thing that says "IMG" under "SIZE"? Click on that. Then put the link in that box. Then the pic will come up in the post.... By the way, your G1 is impressive. Kinda looks like my G1, I got same color, except the bottom paneling is stock and yours looks like it's painted the same color as the car. Also, my paint job is horrific, yours looks nice. ![]()

Then, I called, and talked to who I thought was heading hte repair work on my car. He offered to lower the price of labor by $15 an hour. But when I got there, I found out some other asshole was heading the repairs on my car, and he refused to lower the price of labor on my car. So I got into a shouting match with the asshole, because he claimed that I was lieing. Later, I found a random cd in my cd player and all the sound settings changed (bass, treble, mids, balance, etc). He's lucky nothing was missing (at the time I was so pissed I was hoping something was missing because then I would have gone in and decked the guy). Oh well, I learned a valuable lesson, namely, never go to Antonino Acura. We have a place called Import Auto that works on my car, and they are so much better.
