idler failure?
after cleaning my engine I noticed a whistling sound that appeared to emanate from the idler for the AC belt ...is this a known failure or am I all alone here?

Two ways to test:
1) Start the car and listen for the sound....blast the idler with a few quick shots of WD40 (with the straw attached so it doesnt get all over the place!) and if the noise stops....BAM theres your problem! or 2) Try taking the belt off and spinning the idler by hand and listen for a light chirp...this option is only viable because then you already have HALF of the work already done! Just continue removing it and slap the new one on! |
