Ignition Coil question

Hey guys I've got a quick question....what does your guys' coils say on the side...

TC-04A or TC-09A ??

I was previously under the impression that 86-87 2.5's had their own coil, while 87-89 2.7's had their own coil and 1990 2.7's had a coil all their own...

Well I come to find out that my 87L (2.5 Manual) has TC-04A AS DOES my 88L Coupe (2.7 Auto) parts car!!?? ??

So can you guys go take a looksie for me real quick and post up your coil designation, (its stamped on the driver's side of the coil right in the center...cant miss it) and your car's year, trim level, and transmission??

I need to know just who's got what....

im pretty sure that only the 1990 automatic cars had the TC-09A coil. My haynes manual states this as does Mitchell On Demand 5.

TC-09A 90 Coupe 5-speed. But one interesting thing I see sam is that both coild have all the same operating specifications, just a different plug.

You sure that car wasnt an automatic in an earlier time? Manual transmission cars kept the TC-04A coil while only the automatic cars had the TC-09A. You can look this up on www.napaonline.com, search 1990 Model year, Legend, and you will see 2 different coils listed. Yes, the coils do appear to be the same although the primary and secondary resistance levels are different.

No problem. my haynes manual also states that the 1990 automatic had a different coil with a different connector. i still dont know why they went to a different coil for that last year.

im not really sure, altho i know the resistance is higher in the TC-09A on both the secondary and primary windings.
