Key warning chime

This site is the best!!
One other issue I have with my "86" ,when you shut the car off and remove the key, opening the driver's door sets off the warning chime that the key is still in the ignition. This appears to happen when ever you open the driver's side door, even upon reentering the car ovenight the door opening sets chime off. Opening any of the other doors does not set off the chime.
Any suggestions would be appraciated.
THANXX !!!!!!!

yeah man mine does the same thing. I have to take the key out of the ignition in a tricky way, and it wont do it.....old cars have many gremlins you just work around them, unless you want to replace the entire ignition

Not to get too far off topic, but when you guys start your car, does your seat belt reminder beep?

Mine still does OCCASIONALLY...the times are so few and far between that when it DOES beep I almost always say "WOW I forgot that my car does that!"

Mine is doing beeping like this now. Only its when i remove the key. (as if something is still on) The lights on chime is different. This is a beep. The only problem is that this is not an every day car so now i come back a few days later and the battery is dead. Something must be on here some where, or a short or something.

Anything guys???????

Your sunroof is closed all the way right? Try fiddling with the switch.
Does this happen every time? It's possible the beeping and the dead battery are separate problems. But, check your door switches because if your driver's switch is bad it will beep but also leave your interior lights on (even if you switch them off, there is still the door lights), which would drain the battery.
