Kickdown Cable Frustrations

I have adjusted that cable a lot and I am very familiar and capable with properly adjusting it, but recently it seems like I can make it 100% perfect one day, then the next it is showing symptoms of being loose. I continually readjust but it always gets bad again. I tighten the 2 screws very good when I get them right, but it never stays good.

Do I need to do something to the cable.. or adjust something else involved in the whole process that the car goes through to shift?

Grrrrrr.. I hate when it jolts going into 4th gear at low speed.. I feel the tranny's pain. Always have to adjust adjust adjust

I notice a difference in shifting when I add or drain a slight amount of fluid. Is it fourth gear or is the lock-up engaging? If it is the lock-up that is bugging you then add some lubegard and it should smooth it out. I had the same problem before I added lubegard.

its 4th gear, and its shifting harsh because the cable wont stay adjusted properly

jarryd u can make it shift better if u adjust the kickdown cable. it adjusts how quickly the transmission shifts into gears. if yours is too tight the transmission will be shift-happy and shift down too soon, and then sometimes shift right back into the gear it was in. if its loose, which is the condition everyone has unless they've adjusted it, it will jump out of gear and rev in neutral between shifts if it is bad, and also the overdrive will come in and out when cruising around 45-55 mph

grrr.. i'm going to try and figure this out
