Flops down ?? Did you loose the piece that holds it against the windshield to keep it from shaking/vibrating ??

You can replace a Legend rear-view mirror with any Honda mirrors of the same vintage (ie: 1980's to late 1990's) ...the Accord mirrors are about the same size ...and the Civic / Integra mirrors are a bit smaller. But any of them will fit: just remove the plastic cover, then remove the 3 philips-head screws. Take the old mirror with you to ensure the replacement has the same base. My original Acura mirror lasted until about 2 years ago, then the tension mechanism broke inside the mirror (floppy mirror syndrome). I got a replacement Honda mirror from a salvage yard for $15. When looking for a replacement, I noted the wrecks mostly had "floppy mirror" as well, so this must have been a common problem. Wonder if there was a re-call?

I got a nice condition working rear view mirror at a junk yard out of an Acura for $3.00. Mine would do the same thing...especially when my stereo was on

I'm not sure about the first generation mirrors, but the G2 mirrros have adjustment screws on the bottom of the mirror. If you look at either the top or bottom, look for two holes. If you have those put in a small phillips screw driver and tighen the screws. This will then tighten the holder so you will get your mirror to stay still and still be able to adjust it. --=Keith

Sticky this fix:
Ended up using a tube of construction adhesive caulking. Well not the whole tube - just a smidge in the socket of the mirror ball joint. Forgot the name of the stuff - its like liquid nails or OSI something. Applied it in the cool evening when the mirror would stay oriented correctly. The next day it looks great and holds position. As it warms up in the day I can flex the stuff enough to make minor adjustments. |
